Hey y'all.

Please post your feedback on the creation of new threads, mostly in the upcoming releases/classics sections.

We have tried to make the information about the release a bit more visible - as you can see, it's above every post, on every page, with information such as artist names, release name, label, release date and link to external stores.

Now it is a bit of a hassle to write these things, but we want to know if people who create threads will want this to stay once we get our forum up and running or not.

So share your thoughts, it will be much appreciated!

Really liking the new look! The information bar is very helpful in my opinion, but I feel like a 'TBD' option should be added for the release date and type, as those aren't always known when making the post.

As per some requests, I've made all of the fields optional. Still, we'd like you to try and fill and edit those as much as you can. You can still write TBD or TBA or ID or whatever.

Can you add RSS feeds for each board? The one on the bottom is for the whole forum. 🤭

Forum looks great so far.

To be quite frank with you, I don't know. We'll look into it.

I'm only familiar with SMF. I have no idea how XenForo works. I was looking through the Xenforo community and the staff said they removed RSS buttons for each board in version 2.0. Member will have to manually enter "index.rss" at the end of the url. 😐

Yes, you're right. There's also a plugin which does that, but it costs money. I'll try making that myself but I'm not guaranteeing anything.

I think it would be a nice addition with prefixes for artist albums and compilations, as that would make them stand out a bit more than threads for single tracks and similar. I can imagine it's just a bit more eye-catching that way.
With that being said, having too many different prefixes could also easily create a crazy mess out of the releases-section (so no prefixes for tracks, EP's and similar imo, I can imagine there are too many of those).

I've made a quick mockup of what it could look like:

Any other thoughts on this?

If every thread has a prefix, we lose the actual value they add, and that is making some threads easier to distinguish. A good trade-off would be either what you suggested (the bad thing is that we won't be able to see every release type), or having different colours for every type.

If we could have different prefixes in different colours, then that would be a better solution, but it will also make our forum full of different colours, which is also bad design-wise. Of course, we could limit that to a degree by using different shades of two colours.

The idea behind thread fields (artist name, title, date, type etc.) was that it would make threads more searchable, but we found out we need an additional (paid) plugin for that. I personally wanted to integrate those fields directly into the title, but it's a bit harder than it seems, and we're all new with this software.

Adding a new prefix is quite easy though, but I want to hear from the rest of the crew about that.

I can only agree with you on this, hence why my suggestion was only about albums and compilations.

No worries. It's ultimately your call of course, just felt like suggesting this, so thank you for the reply. While this might just seem like a small thing to some people, I can definitely see why it's not something you can just go ahead and change without several opinions on it. :)

Thanks for your suggestion. Truth be told, love seeing feedback and ideas more than "looks good" comments. Ultimately, we do need to discuss it, don't really wanna change bits that are important for users without consulting with everyone first.
