looks up old, obscure tracks on Discogs from one of the more reputable names in trance

I re-discovered Vibrasphere's 2003 album Lime Structure while searching for tracks for "trance to chill out to" and found this gem. The intro immediately had me hooked - it's the kind of ambient/string intro I love to hear in trance. Not long after, Vibrasphere introduces the perks and key bassline, which gives you a good idea of what this track is like. You would want to hear this fairly early on in a set. The beautiful strings, bassline, and percs continue until 0:57, when we finally get some beats going. At 1:14 you can hear the signature "ambient" sound that denotes this is meant to be a chill track. 2:21 introduces an important rhythm, some kind of background groove. The energy in this track is fairly steady. At 3:17 we get the first break, where most background sounds have faded and all we're left with are the beats, strings, and a couple of pads. This is to prepare for the breakdown, which brings with it a more complex electronic melody that still feels "chill." The last major change happens at 6:05, the second breakdown that gives us a fairly intense melody on par with that from Astral Projection - People Can Fly.
If you like chilled-out trance and can spare 8 minutes of your time, you will certainly enjoy hearing Newport.
