Video streams are net negative for Trance shows

Watching music streams is a bit of a contradiction, am I supposed to listen to the music or watch his next move?
I have found that I can't do both. Anyway , video streams are new and all the legacy shows have all been audio only. Van Buuren, Schulz, Van Dyk
have all created legendary shows with no visual clue what they do or even what they look like. Ever since ASOT went video , the tracks have shortened a lot and they are bringing more and more distractions where it's hard to listen to the music.
There is two main problems with video streams:
1. They make the viewer focus on visual and surpass the audio
2. They make performer cut down on patience and cut the music tracks that used to 6 to 7 minutes at least down to 3 and 4 minutes because the performer wants to do something because of the video stream instead of letting you listen to the audio that builds and maintains.
There is no way that these guys will play 10 minute classics on their show and stand there doing nothing.
This is something that had been on my mind and on my nerves for a while.

They can upload videos onto spotify too which is now in video too. The days of ASOT playing long tracks are gone dude. Most of these days people just want to hear titktok edm or tiktok trance.

Yeah , I remember Armin acting completely aghast recently that a classic tune was 11 minutes long. This is simply because of video

Which classic is 11 mins long and what episode was that in? Also, this obsession of watered down techo tracks made by former trance producers like for example and by the way this is extended mix it's only 5 mins short.

I really don’t see the added value of video. Usually just somebody nodding his head for 5 minutes during the track.
It's all about jesus poses and love hearts because you know people consider Armin to be rebirth of Jesus.

I think it's mainly because you can cut pieces and bits and that means........ lots of content for social media. If you wanna stay relevent, you gotta have video... I bet this is the main reason for them to have started ASOT on video...

Visuals are basically needed to remain relevant today. It's hard to imagine a gen Zer just listening to audio when they could be watching audio + video from a different genre. Everyone also has increasingly shorter attention spans.

Visual streams are just how trance radio has needed to adapt in an era of podcasts, YouTube shows, and endless competition from all other sources of entertainment.

They are a net negative because real trance music makes you want to close your eyes forget about your troubles in life. These fake ones with these videos kinda go away from why trance was made. :p

What really annoys the crap out of me regarding, for example, current ASOT is the fact that from time to time Armin is going to stop the music to scream: "HOW ARE YOU DOING, AMSTERDAM?!" and I'm like: "Shut up and just play the music."

But, in any case, I think video streams are pretty much pointless, and I don't even look at what's happening, when I listen to music is to listen to music, not to look at whatever the DJ is doing, believe me, I could not care less about what the DJ might be doing, I care about closing my eyes and get lost in the music, and believe me, looking at certain really embarrassing poses some of those DJ's will really ruin your experience, it's that and having "MC's" or even the DJ themselves constantly telling people to put their hands in the air, in fact, if there is one thing I hated the most back in the mid-2000's when Tiësto and Armin were becoming popular was having to listen to a God-forsaken annoying MC telling us to "give some love to the DJ" and I'm like: "Dude, shut the hell up. I'm here to listen to the music, not to listen to some God-forsaken annoying wanna-be Master of Ceremonies pretending he's doing such a great thing constantly telling the audience to "praise the DJ"", the DJ is there to play some music, not to be treated as some sort of God which has always been something that really annoyed me in the Trance scene.

As for Armin being aghast with the fact the a Classic Trance tune would clock at 11 minutes or more, he's got to be kidding, right? I mean, he himself used to do long tracks and remixes like this in past. Rising Star - Clear Blue Moon? 10:24. Aria - Dido (Armin Van Buuren's Universal Religion Mix)? 11:24. Shane - C'est Musique (Armin van Buuren Remix)? 11:12. Darkstar - See Me? 10:25. Perpetuous Dreamer - The Sound Of Goodbye (Armin Van Buuren's Rising Star Mix)? 10:46. Seriously, I could go on and on.

I don't think Above & Beyond are that picky regarding that. I mean, their videos of their Group Therapy radioshow usually only have small snippets of some livesets they did, the only videos they do are for livesets, not really for regular GT episodes.

Gen Z is very inconsistent, if you ask me.

Something for the senses I’d love to happen. Just for immersive reasons. Nothing to do with media. A film with particular music - some trance, some ambient, some house, some techno, some breaks… whatever is needed, but all of outstanding quality & with the kind of video graphical content that equal to the quality of the music chosen… takes the viewer / listener on a fantastic immersive journey.

Imagine how therapeutic this could be - (great for mental health too)

Could even have one specifically about trance. (Up for investigating this @Hensmon )

Back 43 years ago we had this cultural masterpiece. A film with music by Philip Glass that has music to enhance the visuals (or vice versa) for the integral concept.

He used to do that too in XXL days but in dutch just have a listen to ASOT 100 so it's nothing new.

That was a big beach party where Luminosity now happens and he was interviewing others so hype was justified. Hyping that he does during ASOT now is just him trying not to play the music and pander to the crowd that he brings in and just talk in repetition .
