I'm sensing something's not right with me.

I've lost a bit more than 8kg since summer, which is fantastic. I exercise 3-5 times a week, I'm the strongest and fastest than I've been in a couple of years. I had two hiking trips this year already, with some more day hikes where I live as well. Recently I bought a small piece of land in my favourite mountains, and am looking forward to making myself a small house there. There's a bunch of other good things happening as well. When I look at myself from the outside, everything seems to be going great.

But on the other side, I've been stressed at work for 2 months now - on some days I worked non-stop. Granted, the stress has been lower this February, but either it is still there, or I can feel the side effects from January.

And now it feels like my entire pleasure system is shot. I'm not even hungry nor do I enjoy food, besides exercising my body feels numb, and I have no desires or any driving force. Just doing the day-to-day commitments at this point, keeping the routine.

It's so weird, this dichotomy. I've already scheduled a yearly physical. Just to give you an idea of how much this situation is bothering me, I absolutely fear needles but I had to do it anyway. If I had to take a guess though, it would be that this is all mostly psychological.

I am seeing someone regarding my hair loss/grey hair and dermatitis and anger outbursts where I hit myself. This never happened to me before but it happened to me being around toxic people.

In other news. Only in America.

To be honest, when I feel something like this is happening (or starting to happen), I double-down on the routine, as well as just vocalize it - speak to someone and/or just write it out into the void like here, where no one really knows me. It helps just to have it out there.

Naming it makes me separate it from me. I name the (likely) causes, go into problem-solving mode and give myself a break. It's most certainly not clinical, it's just life.
not necessarily so straightforward
Missed a Sopranos reference there, but that doesn't matter. I'd certainly be interested in having a judgment-free, well-argumented and objective conversation about the matter, if you're interested.

I can easily laugh off the way you responded - but if it was anyone else, you should think about how that would impact them, especially if they are having some personal problems.

Good for you for getting help!

Great to hear you’re making steps at building your own place at least @Archon how many m2 did you purchase and where?
Thanks, around 600 (with a possibility of purchasing another pair of 300 from both sides at some point). It's in my favourite mountains in Serbia (just before the entrance to the national park). It's not remote and hidden in the wilderness, which is a compromise, but one that has many upsides. It is placed on the river bank of a small mountain river.

Building a house will take years as the savings are now mostly gone. But the first few steps, including the architect's project as well, might be done this year. I have great plans for it!

Neat! I’d be interested in seeing the plans when they’re ready,

fellow architect & all ;)

And I'll make sure I send them! Already waiting on the cadastral topographic plan, which I might import into SketchUp or something similar when done, then maybe start experimenting myself before I go to the architect with my wishes.

In essence, the parcel is narrow but long, and it has a 15% slope (estimate), which is a bit steeper up top. Down below, it flattens out near the river. The river can flood, so we'll need to build a house at the top part of the parcel - that will neutralize the slope (make it usable) and leave out the flat portion free and usable for trees, grass and whatever else.

I'm looking into cascades - from the road, I want a garage and maybe a 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom floor. Below that, level with kitchen + living room + toilette, with a wide terrace in front. Below the terrace, storage room. Around 50-60 square meters in total. The wall looking at the river (downhill) will be in glass almost entirely, on both levels.

It's gonna be stupidly simple to minimize costs, and I'll be looking to not stand out - so maybe use the (old) architectural style of that area as an inspiration to achieve what I want (more glass, more modern look). But that's far off into the future, the most important thing is just getting the overall plan out.

I got my contact lens stuck in my eyelid and couldn't get it out, so tomorrow I have to go to the local eye clinic and let them remove it. That will be $105 down the drain 🤔

My eyes didn't like contact lenses at all. When I put them on my eyes started feeling itchy and hurting a lot. So I had to remove them.

I forgot to follow up. Turns out that the contact was no longer in my eye. I just had a slight scratch in my eye (in other words, an open wound), which is why I thought something was there. Got some ointment and eye drops, and now I'm feeling better

When I put on the contact lenses, I do feel them itchy and uncomfortable if I failed to soak them in enough contact lens solution, or if my eyes are dry (which is why you also need to use eye drops)

Another fun thing that I developed: dry skin! I started getting weird cuts on my fingers randomly. Sure, I'm clumsy, but I'm not a dumbass that would hit myself on something sharp and cut myself, right?

...

Turns out my dry hands were causing the problem. Put some moisturizing cream, and that prevented the cuts for the next couple days. I haven't even used the cream in a few days, and still haven't felt any cuts recently.
