Rex Mundi - Valley of Dreams [2011]

Excellent progressive trance right on the border with progressive house.

tyDi ft. Audrey Gallagher - You Walk Away [2009]

Amazing collab between tyDi and Audrey Gallagher. You Walk Away is slower-paced trance that has "late 2000s" written all over it. It also has an awesome bassline and great background synths and strings. p.s. Yikes, there doesn't seem to be much activity on this section.

Sundawner - Sorrow (incl. Cosmicman Remix) [2005]

Amazing progressive trance with a soothing, ethereal feeling. Original: Fun facts: For the longest time I thought the original mix was the Cosmicman remix. It turns out the slower-paced track is the original, and the faster-paced, more anthemic version is Cosmicman's remix. You can tell which...

Has your music taste stopped evolving? Why/why not?

This is especially interesting for those on this forum that are over 30 years old. We commonly hear about the good old days, when music used to be much better. This isn't an @ at trance or anything like that, but music in general. I'm sure that if you surveyed X number of people at random, you...

Tom Colontonio - Modern Day Madness [2008]

Fast-paced uplifting trance, but unique even in 2008. This is one of Tom Colontonio's better productions, imo. Never heard anything like it elsewhere. That is Alizee in the picture, btw.

    O'Callaghan & Kearney - Exactly [2006]

One of the beginnings of steroid trance. It's sooo good.

Feeltz & Leo ft. Aneym - Mistaken (White Stars remix & original) [2009]

Housey progressive trance. I would say it's riiiight on the border between progressive trance and progressive house. By 2009 standards, though, this was definitely more trance than house (which back then sounded like Deadmau5). Original mix: White Stars remix: My favorite version, and the...

Ishkur's Guide to Electronic Music (old)

Just as an fyi, but version 2.5 of Ishkur's guide to electronic music (the really old one that was made in 2001) will be gone next month Dec. 2020 following the end of Adobe support. The whole thing is a blast from the past, which you can see for yourself here. It has sections on house, trance...

    Rank 1 - 7 Instead of 8 [2012]

One of my recent "modern trance" discoveries. I had heard of this track but otherwise slept on it. When I heard it in a mix I legit thought it was from Push/M.I.K.E. Let's just say I was pleasantly surprised to see that it's "7 Instead of 8" from Rank 1. It quickly became one of my 2012 favorites!

    Kaycee - Millennium Stringz [1999]

My favorite Kaycee track. Millennium Stringz was also the opener of Tiesto's legendary set at Energy 2000.

James Holden vs. Ben Pound - Kaern Turned [2002]

James Holden's mashup of his own production Kaern with Ben Pound's Turned. James Holden basically placed an ambient track on top of progressive/tech-house, and the outcome was progressive trance! Kaern (James Holden original) Turned (Ben Pound original)

Humate & Rabbit in the Moon - East [1994]

Classic trancer that appeared in Sasha & Digweed's Northern Exposure mix: Original mix: Humate mix: Rabbit in the Moon Opium Den mix: Its bassline reminds me of PvD's Love Stimulation remix, but its vibe is spacier

Datura - Yerba del Diablo [1991]

One of the earliest trancy productions. Rather than coming from trance's electronic body music and German roots, this one came from Italodisco. Yaqui mix: There are a bunch of other mixes, and this track was in fact re-released multiple times. Overall, it's really cool, and it has that early...

    Airscape - L'Esperanza [1999]

One of the classics I've been most ambivalent about. The original version of L'Esperanza is nice and dreamy up until the lead synth kicks in about 2:30 minutes in. Something about it just feels... off. I don't know if it's because of the production, my ear is not used to such high pitches, or...

    Blank & Jones - Cream [1999]

Pick your late 1990's/early 2000s trance poison! Cream is my favorite Blank & Jones track, and miraculously the extended version in good quality is now available on Youtube. The track itself carries a slightly darker vibe compared to their usual carefree, happy-go-lucky productions. In a way, it...

    Safri Duo - Played-A-Live [2000]

Commercially successful track from the trance heyday. Somehow I imagine myself playing football/soccer when I hear it - I think it's because of the bongos. Official video:

    Why do you like trance?

Somehow after searching about the personalities that like jazz music, I ended up thinking about the personalities that enjoy trance. Found an article on edm.com that talked about a 2003 study where: I also found a Quora question where the OP wonders why he/she enjoys trance so much even though...

    Soundprank - Squared [2014]

Progressive trance (according to mid-2010s anyways) with a slight big room feel.

    Solarstone & John 00 Fleming - Hemispheres [2017]

... A Solarstone and JOOF collab? Supported by Black Hole? I don't know how that happened. However, this track is pretty darn good.

Paul van Dyk - Connected [2003]

Underrated PvD track. One of the better tracks from his Reflections era.
