You can just look at the comments from the article you linked. Some men don't want to deal with women in general or don't want to put in the effort to get laid. These men don't "need" help. They're just wired differently. They straight up don't have the empathy or willingness to tolerate another human.
In the past, they'd have gone to brothels and paid for sex, but today it's probably easier to just spend $2-5k on a high quality sex doll.

The world is better off with sex dolls as an option, imo. That way single lonely men will have a release that isn't just porn/onlyfans/prostitution, and women won't have to date/marry the men who would do exactly this.

They won't be robots, but instead they'll likely be made of a soft material to simulate human skin (wow, this felt really weird to type out).
Entry-level dolls will likely cost around $2000-5000 plus shipping from whichever country makes them (China?). Obviously if you want a custom doll modeled after a certain person, or something made from much higher quality materials, that will cost a lot more.

But just imagine if a ultra intelligent ( human-like) sophisticated robot doll could be made ( with replica skin etc) and im sure if not now one day it could. That still does not make it right. It looks like he is using the sex doll as a rebound to curb the pain he is still feeling from his breakup and he hasn't fully healed from the breakup.

I think this too but the way the article is written i was occasionally wandering if it was a joke. But its written too well plus theres a picture. I had a sense of sadness but couldn’t really work out even if the guy ‘Rod’ found it funny but did it anyway. But yeah basically its sad and I wouldn’t have really thought it was something healthy. But sometimes what works for one doesn’t for another? Or is ‘that’ theory ultimately rubbish?

That is true, but it's still a lesser evil compared to using a real person as a rebound (which is a very shitty thing to do imo)

I don't think it's a rubbish theory. But the article is definitely weird and sensationalized.
What caught my attention was that this guy's age is 54, and yet the article talks about his fiancee. Why does a 54 year-old man have a fiancee? At that age men tend to be married with children of college age or are forever bachelors. Was he married in the past and then got divorced? Then he hit it off with someone else, and that new relationship didn't get beyond engagement? Was he forever single and then finally met his soulmate in his 50s (very, very, extremely unlikely)?
I don't know. Something about him just sounds off, but I can't put my finger on it other than what I read from the article.

Well, I believe things can happen at any age, but it is a perculier option he’s taken when it ended badly. . Something about the mother getting used to the doll now… this too is a little weird.

T’s a bit wierd yeah especially given the guys age.. but the man’s an adult, he can do with the mannequin as he pleases.

That said I can string a list of things together that are more harmful to do when coping with a breakup, and I’m speaking from experience.

what I find probably the most off is his willingness to go full media attention on this…
