Ridiculous set from the boys, top 3 of the entire festival for me. The new AA singles were all jam packed with energy, you can see that they were inspired by that early VANDIT sound from PVD and Nu-NRG

Yeah some nice PvD-like energy here - but youd expect that from Activa if you dialled his tracks up - his whole production style is based on PvD from the late 90s.
Askew sound is also heavily based on the PVD template, especially during his Discover years. I'd say now he's heavier on the acids and he uses a new kick which he introduced with the Smack and Communication remixes 11 years or so, but the rest is still leaning a lot on peak VANDIT.

Don't get me wrong, I expected nothing less and I think it's nice throwback to that era, just in a modernised sound.

Track bangs well. The Smack My Bitch Up opener for the Lumo set is cool.

I scrubbed through to the other AA tracks and mixes in the set and all sounding nice indeed. Seems like a good combination between these guys

The long awaited first ever single from AA Meeting (Askew & Activa) lands on VII. Summit was one of the highlight tracks from their debut live performance at Dreamstate So Cal 2019 and has been a much requested ID in the aftermath of that show which, was filmed and published on YouTube. When asked to describe their sound John and Rob categorised AA Meeting as “high energy Power Trance” and here we see why. This is a perfect fusion of their respective signature sounds so rise up, climb up to the Summit and enjoy the far reaching view. This is the kind of trance we love at VII and we’re thrilled to have such a strong record from AA Meeting to begin their legacy of Power Trance on the label.

Bit too simple for my taste...definitely not bad, but feels too empty and simple...good enough for a few listens but not a future classic im afraid...

I'd venture to say the AA material is meant for the club cranked to 145bpm and smashing the dance floor, just like what PvD was doing back in the Amnesia days. They played over 140 during their set no doubt, I reckon this track is 142-143 in original mix form. Their whole set was pure banging, with enough small melodic breaks here and there to give you a breather

Love the sound of it, very tight and punchy. Main melody maybe too simple for me to get fully on board. Fun track to hear live in a set but wish it had more tension and bigger ideas.
