Had a quick listen, favs so far:

Brandt Hoff - Where is your soul <- most stand out for me
Andre Maier - Optimum
Activa - Twilight <- What a surprise, an Activa track with more groove. Lovely gated pads too
Coredata - GeoMetric
Marcos - Odyssey
Aerium pres. Avalon 62 - Eneabba

Anyone got their CD package yet?
I won't listen until mine arrives :)

Mine hasn't shipped yet. Since I got both the CD and the vinyl, I'm not sure if they'll ship together or separately. Got them through Bandcamp, which initially estimated the ship date for August 3rd (now pushed to August 11th).

That said, per Rob, Magik Muzik is fulfilling the orders on Bandcamp too, and in the purchase email, I have a set of dates from them that don't match the Bandcamp estimation.

This is the CD:

The vinyl is mostly the same, with the package shipping date set for around July 31st.

There have also been times when the Bandcamp estimation was way off and the package shipped much earlier, so I don't really know what to think at this point.

Like you, I won't listen to anything until the CD arrives.

It seems the post has picked mine up yesterday, so it will probably arrive towards middle of the week.

If you ordered both together, you've only paid for one shipping.
So normally in such case it's going to be shipped after the Vinyl release.

I would most likely never considered buying this cd. And not becasue I dont want to support the "scene", just because the music is subpar, and only becasue of that reason alone. Yeah, there are a couple of 5-6 tracks that stick out (a little more) (pretty nice one @jetflag btw) out of 30, but most tracks are like a generic modern trance production in disguise as classic trance with simplified "activa modern templates/sound design, structure and modern synth presets". Theres no journey to be found here, just track after track with a modern activa edit of robotic beats and loops. Is the mixing any good ? Well, if the music isnt exciting the mix would just suffer the same consequences. It will just be a generic standard transitions from one track to the next. I certainly didnt found a journey here.

Its not that bad you might say? Its not, but at the same time it is. Its lukewarm, its generic, its midde-of-the-road modern....trance.

Or be happy some people actually try… there’s only so many hobbyists who do mate.

You keep looking at it glass half empty. Sure, the level of producing might not be 2004. The small group of current producers all have full time jobs and don’t make music in fancy production studios. So it’s actually a given. With your support, these producers might learn, become better producers, help grow the scene, attract new talents…

If you keep looking at it half glass empty, you might simply demotivate the very few people who try….

You are the scene, Daysleeper. Why would aspiring trance producers want to be part of it, when you will simply compare to some classics of the highest standards concluding what you always conclude?

Be happy, change perspective. Maybe start sleeping at night.

Ive listened to this album a couple of times now, and I find very little to fault about it. What I appreciate about it is that its something different than the same old shite that gets churned out week after week. This is an album with a nod to historic styled compilations and it does have a litlle nostalgic feel about it.

Yeah, I does have a Borderline type feel about it too and a lot of tracks are signed to Borderline but for me thats not a bad thing. I think Robs label (along with Pure Trance) is doing something different.
For me its an easy 8.5/10 album and one ill be revisiting for a while.

We should though give a hand to Activa for doing something different to a lot of the labels out there.

First listen through and really enjoyed it! Some early standouts are Avalon 62 - Eneabba, GeoMetric - Coredata. Julian Del Agranda and Enigma State also pretty sweet. Formentera by Activa quite nice too. Definitely gotta fire this up again over the next month to see how I feel overall.
