I see quite some techno labels and artists are now going the trance route, mostly the old school hypnotic kinda trance which is a cool direction but if you take this track in particular - it got no balls, no real drive, no real depth, no groove, no details. most of the synths are way too modern and sterile and especially the processing is too basic and safe.

and that key change to the main riff doesn't sound good to me, like at all.

it takes much more than just replicating the melodies and sound design to create a great old school sounding tune

I just like the trend of trance music returning to roots. This track is nice!

Doesn't do much for me but I wouldn't say it's bad. Just extremely simple - but we had loads of those back then as well, no?

never been into mr. Fitzpatrick music, this one sounds like something from B&J, maybe inspired by this one

The choice of instruments is excellent! The melody is rather boring to me however, so I likely won't find myself listening to this a lot. Very good attempt at making a classic sounding track, regardless.

This track would have never been signed by a major label if it wasn't for the well-known artists.
ironically, you can say thay about A LOT of the tracks released by major trance labels haha, technically (sound engineering, mixing, mastering) they're normally the same level as mid-range labels (that's not some insane level that would be difficult to get, even though majors could try and provide the real exclusive quality to their releases if they'd give a shit) and melodically often ever worse 'cause big names don't bother with something catchy, the track in this thread is a perfect example

I'm sorry for bumping this old thread but I just found it after searching for more SIlva City after the Ferry release.

I am very surprised about the negative comments here. I think this sounds amazing and as good as some of the recent Enigma State tracks. Everyone is constantly moaning about the hard and sharp beats on this forum and then we finally get some more tracks that have perfect sounding beats and synths and hardly anyone has anything positive to say smh. Melody is good too, I like that it's simple, and that it sounds classic.

@DazTC did you hear this one?

This one is better. You can hear the depth in the individual sounds like the percussions untz untz untz sounds and crash cymbals and claps, arpeggios they sound somewhat drowned or watered down in the backstage track.

If I made this you'd all be crying and calling me a twat. "Oh he's fallen off". Probably some inane statement about how robotic my drums are. This is why I don't take most of you seriously

I like the oldschool trance sound here, but the main lead doesnt do much to me, its okay, but I guess there are much better melodies around

The Journey from them earlier this year was amazing and this one doesn't disappoint either. Love the sound they have.

As mentioned in the thread for Hector, I think that, The Journey and Chaos are stronger than this one, but it’s still solid and enjoyable. Plus this one was the first one they released so upwards from here for sure 🙂
