Are we seeing the death of progressive trance?

Progpsy made sense when it became popular. This was the < 136 bpm psytrance that sounded like full-on but that had more layers and a stronger emphasis on the atmosphere/progression of the track.

Let me start at the begging.

Everybody noticed how one of the major trance labels - Anjunabeats started slowly going further from what I'd like to call electro and progressive trance (examples of artists and typical sounds I have in mind are Super8 & Tab, Andrew Bayer, Cosmic Gate even if they are not a part of Anjunabeats). Now Anjuna has been moving towards progressive house and melodic house & techno for years, but lately it has been started to be more noticeable especially with their anniversary compilations compared to their new releases.

I've noticed a lot of trance artists have been getting their feet 'wet' in deeper progressive sounds lately. Don't get me wrong I actually like deep progressive sounds, but on the other hand I don't want to see progressive trance gone. One of the reasons in my opinion is Covid forcing clubs closed so artists are going for more casual music rather than more club oriented one. I read in a few forums how people are moving towards listening more relaxing sounds rather than club style music which they listen occasionally.

On the other hand on the upper bpm <130+ progressive have been slowly been taken over edm-y and big room-y sounds for a very long time. Even in them I find some good music, but still lately it feels like we can kiss goodbye progressive trance.

Now I have hopes that once/when/if this finally blows away and clubs reopen will see progressive trance returning. But another part of me thinks that it might be too late.

I've actually split my main show into 3 parts because I noticed myself that I have been favouring progressive house and melodic house & techno rather than progressive trance. I spend the better part of my search for new music every week trying to find typical progressive trance sounds lately. But even then it has been a real struggle to find good new progressive trance tracks.

I know on the other hand that deep progressive sounds are the new hype and a lot of artists want to try it, so that is another take on the current situation.

I tried to keep it short and simple because I want to hear what other fans think.

What's your opinion?
Check out this thread it has some real gems which I never even heard before and some are oldies too.

Dunno man, just seems to be filled with the house-techno-trance wannabe stuff, and a lot of it not that great either. None of it sounds like progressive Trance in the slightest though. Which tracks from there you feeling is hitting that prog-trance vibe?
