Yeah, sounds okay, definitely not ruining it, but original will remain the best :)

I saw the title and thought pleeeeeease don’t be Vangelis. Credit where’s its due, happy with this. The overall feel and indeed some of the percs are from his older remixes of Sky Falls Down and Seven Cities and original tracks like Sunburn. I thought this would be f@cking EDM bin juice.

Huh, haven't heard anything this good out of Armin for a while (at least anything that isn't under the Rising Star or Gaia aliases). I'm kind of ambivalent of how he's changing up the chords compared to the original, but sound wise it's much better than anything he's done under his real name since the early 2010s. This might grow on me more.

Don't forget that Airwave remixed this too, back in 2006, and stayed a bit more faithful to the original chord progressions:

This track sounds like the Gaia - Moons Of Jupiter album, which is the best music Armin has ever done! Still listening to that album every week.

The problem with Armin is his musical identity. He doesn't have one. I can't relate to the guy's musical identity, since it's allll over the place. I don't see how this fits in his discography. Unless you conclude "he does all genres, so it's ok". Then yes.

Tune itself is quite solid. But I can't understand the artist 'Armin' anymore (which isn't new, it's for multiple years already).

Nothing wrong with... you know... releasing whatever you want, but from "the king" of trance, I'd wish we'd get something more cohesive. That the brand 'Armin' really stood for something, for a certain sound, a concept, a vision.

I didn't know Airwave made a remix of it. It sounds lovely has his sound from that era.

It's actually really good, excluding that cringe squeaky bum part. If I cut it out of the track, I could regularly listen to it.

Thanks for that link @Altair.
Never knew that track existed, legend!

Way too rigid structurally and very boring and lifeless drums/basses and overall rhytmically its so stale. Tired ot this melodic mainstream techno style

Nice tune by Armin. The original melody is great ofcourse.
This tune has also been covered by Starbug wayyy back in 1999. Young me really loved it when i found it on Trancemaster 21. Got it somewhere on vinyl including a Kay Cee Remix.

I have to sadly agree with you. While I still support Armin, he’s been all over the place musically for the last 5 or so years. It seems like every week he’s releasing a new track that’s a totally different genre wise. No consistency whatsoever. I’ve honestly lost count of all of his recent releases.

I remember back in the day how pumped up I’d get when Armin would release a new track or remix. It would always be far and few between, but would almost always deliver. Making the release the much more enjoyable. There would also be consistency and an identity to his sound as you said.

As the saying goes:”Times change”. I get that Armin probably does have to put out more due to streaming being a major factor economically, but I would be nice if he could at least carve out a consistent identity for his new sound.

Just my opinion though. Not trying to talk down on him. Whatever works for him is fine. 🤷🏻

A good one from Armin! I also enjoyed Es Vedrá from him earlier this year, that one was pretty groovy 🙂

It may sound like the issue for you is frequency and not stylistic consistency? I don't know if artists mixing styles all the time is a problem, why not just make what your mood tells you. But I agree that endless releases push you into a territory where you become meaningless and throw away.
