It can be sort of magical when you have a big famous melody on your virtual keyboard.
A great remix can be... great... though. It's a way of playing a track, but take it in a different direction. Often, these days it's just the classic with a crappy synth and steroid beats. But that's the production making it bad, not "remixing a classic" itself.

Hot take, but trance classics aren't untouchable and can be remixed by modern artists. It just happens that a lot of remixes are really bad and uninspired (Nocturnal Nights Reworked, anyone?)
You could say the same about the Nocturnal Nights Reworked... but I doubt those guys are getting support from Ferry like Matt Fax just did.

This is actually the first track I hear from him, haha.
No reason necessary, but his sound doesn't have a deadmau5 feel to it. If anything, this producer is closer to Lane8/Avoure/Tchami. Sure, this Gouryella remix isn't as good as Aura or Ghosts, but it's legit enough and fits nicely with modern house. It's precisely what a 2020/2021 remix of Gouryella should sound like.

Its not. It says so but that doesnt make it a real remix.
Theres zero connection to the original. The production is his usual snooze prog, then he just added the chords in the middle. Theres no connection. Why isnt anyone trying to do a proper remix? Not just desperate tries to cash in by adding some chords from famous old trance song in the break. Sigh.
And im def no Gouryella fanboy (far from it). Although I see its place in the timeline of trance and its still a proper catchy track.

That practice existed for at least 20 years, sometimes it works, but sometimes it doesn't. That sort of thing can happen with producers who are only known for one style.
Don't tell me your gonna start ripping into Gouryella now too
