I'm with the freezer.
This is the typical track that guys like Gagi would go crazy for. Nice subtle trance. Will put it in my playlist, it's a good track. But TOTY?
The breakdown is very nice, with various FX-ish sounds. The melody is nice. But it's a bit muddy, too much reverb maybe, too little "attack" on the main synth. The notes start to blend in each other... it lacks a bit snappiness... The notes come across like
taaadaadaaaaa, taaaaaadadaaaa
in stead of
TA TA-TA, TA TA-TA.
And I simply prefer it when it's a bit more TA TA-TA. I'm a TATA kind of guy.
Good post Jan. Good post.
Edit: Btw I have this on repeat now. It's deffo a great track. Anyway, I'd say this is way more 2004-2005, rather than 2007. If you listen back old ASOT episodes, these sort of melancholic (but uptempto) melodic tracks were all over the show.
Do a comparasion with hutan and say that Dayslipper is right. Maybe you are more objective than all the other 20+ fanboys on these 2 pages. NOT A SINGLE, NOT EVEN A BAD WORD, on this, just hugs and kisses. I'm dissapointed.
That one has much more charachter. This is flat. Listen on how the acids and fx just comes in so smooth and subtle in that one. How it carries the track, It both compliments the other elemtents and at the same time gives the track forward momentum and flow. love that its not perfect and crystal clear sounding. Its got some mystery surrounding its aura and its just a beast. Here the acid is predictible and dont support the trackin the same, he just throws it in and then it goes out. Same with the strings, really predictible and doesnt evolve into anything. Hutan also have like a cool middlepart followed by a second part which elevates the track to even higher grownds WITHOUT relying cheap strings. They did nothing to me tbh. Its too basic this time. Everything from structure, arrangements, sounds used etc. Not even the strings helps it that much.
Def a step down from Hutan, I mean just listen to the tracks side by side. Hutan can be listened to 10 -20 before you really hear everything it wants you to hear. This one is so predictible. Its also too similar to its father. Its just more clean albeit flat and predictible.
And what the f are you on about
@dmgtz96 . Compairing this to Simon Patterson is laughable.
EDIT: As always keep in mind its daysleeper critique. Its a good tune, the positives overall outweighs the negative for sure, but I just need to take Hutan in defense here.
