Stuart Langelaan aka Lange has always been one of my favourite artists, and he's a true pioneer of the late 90's - early 2000's trance. The trance which perfectly represents "Kevin & Perry Go Large" movie atmosphere. And it's interesting to hear how his sound changed from the happy 90's style to the different modern one. Another name whose "path" was quite similar would be Signum, who also had the "Lange-sounding stuff" in the 90's.

I can't say I'm a big fan of the music Lange currently makes, but his classics are amazing, especially till 2008. I noticed UK trance community really loves him, and he's appearing almost on every trance event! I've had no idea he's so popular tbh. Basically seeing him on the various posters inspired me to dig out my favourites from my head and share them with you.

As I'm gonna visit my first ever UK event this weekend with Lange playing 2 sets, I'm really looking forward to hear his classics one. Before this I had only one opportunity to witness Lange - it was his Luminosity 2018 producer set, which unfortunately was full of his modern stuff, with only 1 or 2 flashbacks to his old discography.

Anyways, here's my top 10 Lange favourites, including the non-trance tracks.

10. The Thrillseekers - NewLife (Lange Mix)
09. Agenda - Heaven (Lange Remix)
08. Hemstock & Jennings - Mirage (Of Hope) (Lange Remix)
07. Firewall - Kilimanjaro (Original Mix)
06. LNG - Inter City (Lange Mix)
05. The Morrighan - Remember (To The Millenium) (Lange Remix)
04. Firewall - Touched (Original Mix)
03. Brainchild - Symmetry C (Lange Breakbeat Remix)
02. Lange - Frozen Beach
01. Firewall - Reflections (Lange Mix)

It was pretty hard to make only top 10, as there are still such masterpieces like "Fiji", "Follow Me", "Drifting Away", "I Believe", "Happiness Happening", "Red Sun Rising", and many more. But as you can see by this top, I prefer his more dreamy & melancholic works rather the happy vocal ones. They are still amazing though and I often listen to it.

Anyways, please share your favourite stuff from Stuart, I'm sure there are many fans of him here 🙂

One of the greatest British Trance producers. And like Matt Darey and Darren Tate, his best works were in his early years. (Late 90s to early 2000s)

Dont forget his two DJ Sakin remixes, some of his strongest work.

Lange is one of the best trance producers, I think. He is in the top three for me, along with Ferry Corsten (System F, Veracocha, Pulp Victim), and Andreas Schmidt (Ace Da Brain, Pervading Call, Ace's Delight). Naming the top 10 best Lange productions and mixes is hard due to the number of amazing tracks associated with him, but I try. Edit: yeah, I know it turned out to be not a top 10. :D

  1. Lange Featuring The Morrighan - Follow Me (Lange's Club Mix)
  2. Lange - I Believe (Lange Mix)
  3. Sureal - Always On My Mind (Lange 12" Vocal Mix) | Sureal - Always On My Mind (Lange Instrumental)
  4. Dario G - Heaven Is Closer (Feels Like Heaven) (Lange Remix)
  5. Eye To Eye Featuring Taka Boom - Just Can't Get Enough (No, No, No, No) (Lange Mix)
  6. Sureal - You Take My Breath Away (Lange Remix)
  7. Lange Featuring Skye - Drifting Away
  8. Lost Witness - Red Sun Rising Featuring Tracy Carmen - Red Sun Rising (Lange Remix)
  9. Atlantis Vs. Avatar Featuring Miriam Stockley - Fiji (Lange Remix)
  10. Rhythm Of Life - You Put Me In Heaven With Your Touch (Lange Remix)
  11. SPX - Straight To The Point (Lange Remix)
  12. DJ Sakin & Friends - Nomansland (David's Song) (Lange Remix)
  13. Agnelli & Nelson Featuring Laura Campbell - Everyday (Lange Remix)
  14. Friends Of Matthew - Out There (Lange Remix)
  15. Lange Presents Firewall - Kilimanjaro (Original Mix
  16. Lost Witness - Happiness Happening (Lange Remix)
  17. Agenda - Heaven (Lange Remix)
Other tracks (associated with Lange but remixed by other artists):
  1. Lange - Follow Me (Dark Moon Remix)
  2. Firewall - Sincere (Pulser Remix)
  3. Lange featuring Leah - Don't Think It (Feel It) (CosmicMan Remix)
  4. Lange - Follow Me (Lange Vs. DJ Jam X & De Leon Remix)

2. Lange - Nearly Home
3. Atlantis vs Avatar Feat. Miriam Stockley - Fiji (Lange Remix)
4. DJ Sakin & Friends - Protect Your Mind (For The Love Of A Princess) (Lange Remix)
5. TR Junior - Rock With Me (Lange Instrumental)
6. Lange - Obsession (Lange Remix)
7. Hemstock & Jennings - Mirage (Of Hope) (Lange Remix)
8. Saints & Sinners - Peace (Lange Remix)
9. Oceanlab - I Am What I Am (Lange Remix)

To be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of Lange. With the amount of stuff he has released during the years he of course has succeeded to make many memorable tracks, but he wouldn't be on my shortlist when I think of the best trance producers. Matter of personal taste of course. And there are Symmetry C's and Happiness Happening's on my playlist.

And I am very fond of these too

this just my opinion, don't take it too seriously: i never liked any of his works, all the tracks sound generic and have no real character..

You knew it was a Lange track as soon at it came one,so thats a unique style and i dont know how it can be called Generic. Todays modern Trance, where the tracks could be done by ANYONE - now thats generic.

It feels like he was/is capable of doing more interesting stuff but somehow he never released much music overall. Lots of more commercial remixes in the late 90s though.

Watched one of his sets in Trance Sanctuary tonight and heard both songs that I thought were amazing 2022 releases that will be rocking the clubs

Lange presents Firewall - Together
Lange - God Loves The Truth (Original Mix)
Also been at Trance Sanctuary yesterday, classics area :)

Too bad he didn't play a single track from my top, but was surprised to hear Flutlicht - Icarus, Red Light District - Did You Hear Me? (Phase 1), Slipmatt - Space and DuMonde - Tomorrow (Onkel Brett Mix).

Near the end of the event I actually 'caught' Stuart (for the first time in my life) and had a small talk with him about his music. I even showed him my top 10 on trancefix, haha. He told me that he also prefers his more dreamy works, and said that "Symmetry C Remix" is his favourite one.

That cool I stayed only up till 7 at both switching, but upstairs was les busy and I stayed there more

Also I am not ashamed to say shed a tear when I heard DJ SHOG Another World downstairs.

At the end 4 hours is more than enough for me 😊
