I know people tend to gravitate towards the A&B mix, which I do like. However, I much prefer the original.

There's a bit of confusion re: the release date. Discogs says it's December 2003, the official Anjuna channel and another Discogs entry has it as January 12, 2003.

I think the vinyl might've been Dec. 2003, and the digital Jan. 2004, which would make a lot more sense. Feel free to chime in.

Digital releases didn't exist back then. Anjuna launched it's own digital store in late 2004, and Beatport launched around the same time.

I remember Anjunabeats (and other labels) release dates being a bit of a lottery, the scheduled dates did sometimes fluctuate by a week or two by the time products hit the shops, presumably due to things like late delivery from the pressing plant.

If you were lucky you might find a white label promo release on sale a month or so before a full Anjuna release. I definitely saw such a copy of Day One in a local independent store.

Somehow I have a 'first original mix' of this on my HD, which is slightly different to the released original. I can upload but give me a couple of days.

Love the original, never thought the A&B mix added enough to the track for their to be any point, it’s still nice but just feels a bit by the numbers.

Re-reading the OP again, I see part of the confusion was the 'January 2003' date. That is 100% wrong, it was definitely released around late 03-early 04.

Here's the alternative original version. It's the same length as the JOC remix, but definitely different. It fades out at the end but doesn't appear to be from a mix compilation.

Ahh.. What a cool track! Especially Above & Beyond remix. It was on my bottom line of Cubase SX sequencer when I produced Evolve - Safe to Dream (Exalted Remix). So basically I licked the arrangement from this track.

The alternate original mix is part of the compilation "Trancemaster 4000". Given the stylistic details, I'm under the impression that version is the true original mix and the Anjuna EP release came second.
