Yeah it's just one of those genres that's really universal and doesn't have much local influences (although that would really be amazing).
One could say that being able to replicate the European trance sound is a good feat in itself
Based on what I've seen online, Mexico historically has stronger ties to psytrance. There's a whole
post on Isratrance from 2008 about how psytrance became an underground scene in Mexico. I don't recognize any of the names, as I never looked specifically into Mexican psytrance, but it's an interesting read. From the post:
Back in 1999-2000 there were a group of kids whom called themselves "Mandala" they were close related to the work of Sound Sorcery and therefore Maia Records, They started out by opening the first store I remember in town which was located in front of a School named Universidad Lamar, right in Guadalupe Zuno and Chapultepec Avenues, remember it was later in the spring of 2000 when they had a party with someone named "Atmos" whom till today its one of my favorite artits [sic]
That university is located in
Guadalajara, one of the largest metro areas in Mexico and an important cultural center, so it makes sense that psytrance reached there.
