Electronlyman you summed it up nicely.
I enjoyed all three tracks, but not blown away. They are good though. Will definitely be buying and adding to the playlist, and yes as Jetflag's DS impression states, it's better than majority of tracks in similar style
I actually think I like Mike Nichol's the most. It has much more balls and energy, which Thrillseeker's are missing. They just feel too safe to me in many ways. Yh Nichol's mix is a bit super charged, but it is quite cool none the less.
Hard to pick between Steves. Almost Nearly has a nice Veracocha feel to the melody. The extra track length allows the counter melody and it's really nice when it all comes together. Be With Me has that rolling baseline and probably better melody, and I like the samples. Definitely classic meets modern hybrid, but too short so doesnt feel like it has a interesting build/tension.
But unfortunately for me the modern production just prevents it from being something I really get excited about. It's not like I dont like modern production, there's sexy sounding stuff in bandcamp underground all the time right now (musicality issue aside). The kicks, hats and synths all just sound too perfect, to homogenized, too clean, and kind of empty/soulless to my ears. I know this is Steve's sound for a while now, and I really liked Amber, but I just think the lack of warmth and balls really keeps it one level below the top tier tracks.
