Well I think you guys actually were amazingly friendly and for a LONG time, so I applaud you all. This American election is a rather emotional subject for a lot of people. My own English really isn't good enough for such deep discussions, but I did enjoy reading most of it.

It's good to read posts that don't share 100% your own thoughts, and we should all keep realizing that it's not a bad thing if you don't agree on something. Not agreeing with each other is key for development. Fortunately here in this thread it was actually going quite well

Yeah, political discussions can get ugly eventually. I've read on reddit that some people in the US who are Dems don't visit their extended families that are Republicans, and likely vice-versa.
It's important to be aware of when you're being misled, from either side regardless of your current political stance. It's good to know when you're acting exactly like the people you are accusing. It's important to avoid acting like a fanatic, for either side.

There wasn't that much to discuss after Biden's victory except for maybe Trump's tweets and the recounts. Political discussions are also pretty exhausting, haha.
Trump's voting fraud accusations have been largely pointless, and the Milwaukee recount ended up improving Biden's margin by 132 votes.

You can expect both sides to play up hyperbole leading up to the election. In the 2016 elections, Trump and right-wing media reported a lot on Hillary's emails and the dangerous migrant caravan, and in this election there was the whole controversy about Biden-Ukraine. All of these narratives pretty much died out after each election. I'm not sure what he left-wing equivalent for those is, but @jetflag you probably know more about that.

There are (presumably) rallies here and there from Trump's supporters, but after the election it's like the entire world stopped paying attention to Trump.

I've seen it before. It's how the media is -- if anyone is a Republican, they're evil and must be stopped. I remember how it was when W. Bush got elected -- the media was after him from day one, and frankly he wasn't even that conservative.

As far as the country goes, there seems to be a sort of cognitive dissonance going on. Hollywood and politics are their own "layers", per se, and all the rest of us are just staring at them like they've gone insane. It's like our lives have nothing to do with what's going on in the media/films. I don't think the people in power are listening to the general public, and the public is getting more and more disengaged and bitter as a result.

oh there where multible, 2016-2020 was full of them I would argue, ranging from golden shower prostitutes to him being on board the lolita express, but I think the main one was the Trump campains alleged collusion with russia conspiracy theory, which ended up being a big nothing burger after the mueller rapport concluded. They all pretty much died out aswell.

Yeah I agree with the media part. I mean even Cuomo has called them out on this recently.

the way I see it the establishment media has become it own class, with its own set of influence and power. I came across an article the other day that just made me cringe.

basically it went something like "oh good! now we can go back to the new normal of being invited to white house dinners again" and i just thought to myself: you bunch of absolute Athenian aristocrats...you don't care about truth or people, you're just interrested in maintaining your comfi spot in the dominance hierachy.

Yep
I just remembered Amy Coney Barrett. Everyone was freaking out, saying she belonged to a cult, was inexperienced, would overturn Roe v. Wade, and that her nomination was hypocritical. Even a group of alumni from her school denounced her nomination.
Maybe those things are true, who knows. What is true is that there was a lot of hype surrounding her just before the election, and now that the election is over nobody pays any attention to her. She is more level-headed than they thought.
