My God, are you still trying to boycott artists? xD Why do you decide who should perform and where? And the guys are well done, they do not succumb to this propaganda to stay with Ukraine.

@Uplifted hard for me to truly get the anger and sadness you've been experiencing since this all began. If it was my country I would be beyond furious. There's no justification for this invasion, not even slightly. Putin is a disgrace of a human being, most of us know this.

However I can't say I agree with you targeting and generalizing against all Russians. Not all Russians think and act the same. There is nothing wrong with listening to some music from Russian labels or producers. They are just individual people, I cannot assume their beliefs based on their race alone. My own country has brutalized and profited from the blood of so many in the last 20 years, but I would hope you don't judge me for that.

I'll go a step further, especially given how Russia is a (forever) autocratic hegemony, ranging from the early Tsars to Soviet dictators to Oligarchs to Putin.

(Average) Russians are, like Ukranians, The victims here. They're the one's lured in and forced to fight and die for Putin's/Biden's Great Chessboard in where the pawns always fall first.

I also think that by going on this SJW'esq cancel culture crusade towards average people, @Uplifted , you're not doing your country and countrymen any good. In fact you're making yourself and by extend the sympathy towards the defense effort, more and more im/unpopular by doing so.

I get that you feel desperate in wanting to do something and nobody denies that what is happening over there isn't horrible. but this is not the way to counter/fight back if your goal is to topple Putin and/or his regime and/or this war.

I get it though. I think if I was in Uplifted's shoes I would also want the world to condemn Russia in any way they can, and from our position the only way really of doing that is to reject Russia in its entirety, to at least send that message that we oppose their actions. It's showing solidarity for Ukraine by not recognizing Russia in the global social stage. As mentioned, many Russians likely don't deserve such treatment, but I imagine in a Ukranian's view that is a small collateral when compared to the massive injustice and devestation they experience. Hard to argue against that. I don

Still, who knows how effective it is. It doesnt make me feel less sympathy to Ukranian's when I see them going that route, its completely understandable, even if I disagree.

p.s I don't even see this as Biden's war, instead yet another military industrial complex led initiative to continue funneling billions into theirs and their partners pockets

Same here, but I can already taste signals of contempt (not just here) when ukraine/ians take on this approach

The opposite route of infiltration as opposed to cancellation has, throughout history, been a more effective tool in toppling tyrants, just look at Korea.

I agree wholeheartily with the militairy industrial complex though, “elected” leaders are far often then not puppets of the apparat. the same could potentially even said for putin. There’s a theory going around that he’s been dead for 10 years already and what we’re seeing are just actors 👽

I think that stems from our inability to truly empathize and relate to the situation (how could we?), and as outsiders to the experience we naturally end up viewing it through the same spectator lense seen with regular world politics and affairs, which does indeed gravitate to contempt or annoyance when witnessing hyper expressive or highly loaded idealogical action. But it's a highly loaded situation for a Ukranian, so I think their response is understandable and relative to the experience.

I can totally realte @Uplifted 's anger about Russia and I think it is totally human but im all up with you guys: There a russians who love this fucking war but I bet there are just as many who hate whats happening. I know ukrainians here in germany which say "russians are acctually brothers" and I hear the same from russians time to time. I recently got contacted by some young russian traindriver. He said that he loves the german railroad and wants to know more about it since hes very interested in railroads from other countries, a very nice and polite guy. Let that sink in: He thanked me for accepting his friend request and told me thats not self-evident since "the world hates all of us now". This honestly shocked me and made me kind of sad. Thats some young russian guy who just wanna drive trains - thats it. I asked him if he needs to go to the frontline and he refused to answer me this since he is worried that he gets locked up if he says something about it.

I hope he doesnt need to fight in this useless war... This guy has his life in front of him, he loves trains (yeah some people really love this stuff) and just wanna be a good train driver since that whats makes him happy. This is all just sad, so many innocent lives lost on both sides. I saw pictures of ID cards from russians who died on front. Some of them where born in the year 2002, in there IDs where pictures from then when they were kids. Its really horrific. They are younger then me - dead, shot in the head. It is the same for ukranian soldiers. Those guys would most likely rather get drunk together and have a good time yet they basically need to kill each other...

We all just wanna live our lives, no matter which nationality or whatever. We all have dreams and goals - and we should never let politics and war stop us from that. We should all stick together and not hate each other for things we cant really influence. If putin wants war - he makes war. This is not directly a choice of the people, russia isnt democratic what so ever so im feeling really hard to blame some guys like this russian train driver for it.

Oh Sure, and that’s very human, just as it’s understandable that Andrew is rage filled over this,

but that still doesn’t make the concious action to therefor go after ordinairy Russian citizens in an attempt to quell the anger and hopelessness therefor the right one, regardless of how understandable it is given the context..and I think you and I would be remiss if we didn’t at the very least pointed that out to him (which we did)

The British have started more wars than anyone. These days no-one seems a give a shit about anyone but themselves. And look at our chart music. By the standards set in this thread, we deserve to be bummed rigid by three space nukes. Yet here we are, still being invited around for tea and still letting Ellie Goulding sing.

Maybe the thought above is to boycott Pure Trance. Like everyone has done with American artists and burgers because of their near-400,000 civilian kill count in the Middle East in the past twenty years.

it was something that popped up on my twitter feed. I didn't like the way they phrased it "no boundaries, no restrictions", why even bring that up? They could have just made the announcement, without trying to trigger anything and let music be music. I see they deleted the tweet now.

I would assume it had to do with them giving Slam Duck complete artistic freedom?

6th and 7th of October 2023 the "Trancemission: Soundgarden" festival will take place in two russian cities - Saint Petersburg and Moscow.

Besides Ahmed Helmy, who played already in these cities last year, now Chris Schweizer has also shown his true colours 🙄
