Time to fire this once more, this time for 2023!

Voting is now OPEN! And what better way to do so than with a sexy, sexy new page design. Like last year, we have a tracks suggestion shortlist, but this time embedded in the website (find above this post - desktop only), hopefully this helps you remember all the great music that was shared on TF throughout the year. It's not an extensive list, but is built off of user submissions and popular tracks, and i'll be adding a final bunch in the coming days.

We had just over 170 votes last year and we'll try again and break that this year.

As usual you can expect results and 2 EoY mixes early Jan!

Share your thoughts below on how you felt this year was. Vote for as little or as much as you want. HAPPY VOTING!

Nice one. I already thought about this for a couple of days. While last year I could hardly name 10, it was a lot easier to form a top list this year.

1. Aerium pres Avalon 62 - Eneabba
2. Factoria - Another Legends Legacy
3. Enigma State - Waiting For You
4. Sunda - Mirage
5. Atlantis - Fiji (Allan Morrow Mix)
6. Dimension - Theia
7. Mac & Monday - Kara's Theme
8. Definitions & Slipstream - Subterfuge
9. AA Meeting - Air
10. Activa & Glynn Alan - Titration

I don't like voting for stuff I made myself usually, but I would have voted for "El Sueno" as I really like the original I made, but that will be out in January 2024. So that will get a vote next year haha.

Ha I always get a chuckle when I look through the votes and see you guys voting for your own tracks, often at spot no.1 . Agree with your high ranking of Eneabba. Such a good track.

Btw guys if any of you experience any bugs with the voting, just let us know here and we'll try and fix.

Yeah, if you encounter any bugs (especially big, breaking ones), you can drop them straight to my PM and I'll try to fix them ASAP.

Hope you guys like the new look and experience, it's been hard work to get this ready in time.

And last but not least, my top 10 will probably contain underground tracks almost exclusively! What a great year it's been.

I think I have a lot of stuff to wrap up the year with, but I want to participate.

In that vein, any album recommendations? Alongside with the track selection, that is the part which is the most open for me. At the moment I am leaning towards Artifact303, but I am open to alternative suggestions especially at the more underground side.

I think this year had some stunning albums released, there are certainly a number of them that I consider worthy of the award. Will compile them and post them here.

Quite the nice change (and yes, very sexy UI) for the voting widget this time around. Noticed the profile badges to the left (whatever you choose to call them) have been changed a smidge as well. Honestly thought I was hallucinating when I first saw them lol.

While last year I'd been a bit out of the loop, so I only put together a top 10, this year was different.

Back when I wrote for Vand Sunete, I used to do a similar sort of thing (never claimed that was an original idea :p), but with a top 20 instead of a top 10 (and the occasional 'bonus' track). Although I voted for the first 10, might as well post the entire top 20 and continue the tradition (along with a bit of context for some of the tracks):

01. Activa - Velika (Club Mix) [VII] [Track of the Year]

For the second year in a row (technically for the third overall if we count some older entries) another Activa track takes the #1 spot for me. As I said before, massively reminiscent of his 2014 track Antimatter (personal TOTY back then), down to the similar shade of green for the artwork. Been playing it like there's no tomorrow ever since it came out in mid-September.

02. Omformer - 10.000 Ohm [Ute.Rec]

There was no way this wouldn't be near the very top. As I said in the thread itself, two words: Holy shit.

03. @Andre Maier (aka NuroGL) & Gosto - Mi Amour [Borderline]

One of the stronger Borderline releases this year. Also Japanese for buttplug. :p Memes aside, great melody.

04. Transa - Carla's Theme (@EnigmaState Remix) [Covert]
05. Otto K - A Strange Dream (Tim Bourne’s Pod Remix) [Lost Language]
06. @Narel - What Your Cause Will Be [Pure Progressive]
07. Will Rees - Sanctuary [Kearnage]
08. @EnigmaState - Lunar's Theme (Original Extended Mix) [Enigma State Music /Self Released]
09. Sean Tyas & Julie Thompson - Cycles [Black Hole Recordings]

Didn't honestly think I'd have a vocal track to add to the 2023 EOY top after last year's When Darkness Comes, but here we are. Not necessarily the usual sound, but I quite like this.

10. The Noble Six - Moon That Never Sets [FSOE ]
---
11. Ija (aka Pulser) - Drift [Toneplay]
12. @Sleeping - Desolated [Forescape Digital]
13. @Coredata - GeoMetric (Warehouse '91 Mix) [Borderline]
14. @Andre Maier (aka NuroGL) - Es Vedra [TF.R]
15. Luke Terry & Sonic Element - Andromeda (Sonic Element Mix) [Borderline]
16. Chris Oblivion - Lilium [Forescape Digital]
17. Activa - I Wanted You (Extended Mix) [Borderline]
18. Tim French - Kamino Static (Qoob Remix) [Lost Language]
19. Astral Projection – Let There Be Light (2023 Remix) [Iboga]
20. Alex M.O.R.P.H. - Cosmopolitan [Vandit]

BEST ARTIST: @EnigmaState - two tracks in the top 10 should've been the clue tbh :p

BEST LABEL: Ute.Rec - despite the Borderline spam in the rest of the top 20 (0 regrets), I voted for the Ute folks this go-around

BEST COMPILATION: Movement: One

BEST ALBUM: ASC - The Depths of Space

Left this spot blank, and added it here a bit out of order because it's not Trance, nor Prog, but DnB. Love the entire album, though I have a soft spot for the last track, Seadrift.

I've been a big fan of the Over/Shadow covers, and this one ain't an exception either:

Had to grab the physical version, and managed to do so for the first round of vinyl with the black / amber combo. They look great IRL (despite the shit photo quality), especially when light hits them (further accentuating that solar eclipse idea):

There was a second run of these, with a marbled red and amber combo, but I personally like the original run combo more. To each their own I suppose.

I think that about covers everything.

As usual will take me a week to think about it. The track suggestions will help a lot, thanks for that.

Only obvious one is the compilation, with no good ones from the underground and Movements being brilliant, it was an easy choice.

I have 3 in mind for best producer, but will keep that secret for the time being

Just to make it clear, are tracks from compilations included?
Ones that weren't yet released as a single/EP ?

I’m actually in favour of this since it’s technically a release, especially given how one can often buy and listen to the tracks individually

I guess there aren’t any set rules for it. Go with your gut feeling. We made Enigma State the winner for a track that wasn’t out yet a few years ago.

idk, I haven't picked my tops per year since mid 2010s, maybe I heard it all, it's just that nowt stands out that much to pick. there are some nice tracks this week, then some next week and a week after, but nothing to listen to over and over again for months

I have around 20 tracks to narrow down from. The 3 standout tracks for me were State of Mind by Enigma State, Willingness by Alan Morrow and Karla’s theme by M&M. I have 5 other tracks that could replace these, just need to think about it more.

My favorite underground tracks were Rambal Cochet’s prince of disks remix, Escitalotrance by Hedustma and Ovnimoon and Maruwa’s remix of Reality Checkpoint…. That last one is really a killer track.

Overal I have been very happy with the Trance scene this year and definitely stepped more into the underground world thanks to the suggestion from the members here.
