A Finished “Alien vs. Predator” Anime Series Is Apparently Locked Up in the Disney Vault
Link to article

Izzo is the former Director of Licensing at 20th Century Fox, and he revealed during the podcast interview that a finished Alien vs. Predator animated series has been locked up in Disney’s vault since they took over Fox.

Feels like waiting for an unreleased track, but no previews at all

DIsney wants everything they lock it up because they want to release once the movies or tv shows fit their DEI business model.

Just watched the first episode of Shogun. So far I've found it annoyingly over-reliant on moving shots and shaky camerawork, washed out (monochromatic) colors and generally on what the kids are calling AeStHeTiCs these days. I would have also expected music to at least have some ethnic inspiration, not just using bassy drones and whatever else.

I will be giving the entire series a chance, I'm hoping the story leaves a better impression.

Well, Disney Star wars Acolyte didn't last that long. It got cancelled after season 1 lol. It costs disney to cough out $670k per minute of footage and they spent $180 million on this turd.

Four episodes in, slightly better but I'm still not drawn in at all.

Rings of PowerRr continues to be a disappointment.

I get it, they don't have access to source material and have to write it themselves, there are a lot of complications, but for the ~250 000 000 USD, you start realizing they were completely robbed by the Tolkien estate et al.

I'd have rather seen this all in a movie format, to be honest. Let's condense the Second Age into a couple of movies, so that there are no unnecessary scenes or stupid choreographed impossible fights. So that there are no unnecessary characters to fill the gaps. Let's say the first movie is forging of the rings, the second is the rise of Sauron, and the last is The Last Alliance and the destruction of Sauron. Keep the story lines consistent and linear, but still retain the main characters and events. So three movies of 3-4 hours and all would be good. But of course, the rights and all that...

Anyhow, some of the things that irritate me are the stunts/fights, some characters, and especially the dialogue! So empty and void of any real emotional charge - it's like they almost try to force it upon you. Galadriel's face shivering in every conflict is in such a stark contrast with the calm, above-all Galadriel from the films. The pronounced/sharp Rs (SaurRron for instance) give me regular bowel movements, so irritating. And why do they now try to give almost every group a heavy accent?

I personally really like the rings of power. I enjoy the slower pace vs a movie. It's more story and character driven. It's really a show showcasing stories and characters that are lesser known within the franchise. The show is picking up as it goes along.

In other news, I finally watched (and finished) GoT. Waited for all the dust to settle finally, and I have to say it is one of the better shows out there. So well made! The quality dropped off in the last 2 seasons, but was overall very good. It featured some of the best battle scenes I've ever seen on film (i.e. Battle of the Bastards), and overall the series were just excellent in almost every single way.

I couldn't bring myself to care about any of the dragons, the White Walkers, Three-Eyed Raven, Many-Faced God and all of that supernatural stuff, but what I did find great were the plots over the throne - I could easily imagine similar events unfolding throughout the Middle Ages. I also quite liked the Red Woman myself.

The problem with the rings of power and the GOT ending for that matter is that any genuine “hero” arc, cannot take place under todays film climate of moral relativism and notions of “equality”

It’s also why JRR Martin for example can’t finish the book series, and especially not one in where there is a triumphant “good” over evil.

Could you elaborate on how the series is, in concrete terms, being held back by what you're talking about? Just to make sure we're on the same page. What I was talking about is just plain bad writing, acting and directing.

In other news, it's good that The Grand Tour has ended. They've exhausted every idea so far, and the enthusiasm has severely dwindled. Clarkson's Farm is significantly more entertaining now, as was May's Our Man In Japan. The latest (and last) special is a perfect example. 2 hours and 10 minutes of basically nothing happening.

Nearing the end of House of the Dragon, season 2. So far it's just an okay way to pass the time. If we compare it to GoT, it's inferior in almost every single way, but it's far from bad.

What do you mean they don't have access to the source material? They used some of the material from the appendices from the LOTR books. The graphics, pacing, acting, music and cinematography looks like a lazy effort it doesn't look and feel authentic at all. Even the cartoon version from the 70's looks a million times better and that looked like it was made in the same era as snow white but this feels like I am watching Lord of the Rings. Whilst most of what I watch in rings of power feels boring and out of place. Simon Tolkien is the consultant on the show as well.

The problem with rings of power is the same reason why JRR Martin is unable to finish the GOT books.

its ideological.

every form of hero epos, like LOTR og, places one party, the morally virtuous one, by necessity over the other.

they cannot stand this. To them all must be “equality and inclusion” and so they’re compelled/forced to write material which by necessity is morally grey. Which is also why both are so unappealing as fantasy art.

they are morally grey, like the real world..and as such utterly boring.
