What EQ settings you generally use when you are listening to trance?

Also, feel free to tell me if you need my EQ settings for the Aeon Closed X, I still have it.

Just using the APO profile from ASR for now, though would love to test your profile too. Unlikely to look at alternative cans as I am love with these giant monstrosities and have wanted a pair of planar magnetics for a long time. The DX3 pro+ is doing just fine though I'll be testing some other headphone amps in the near future (mate has a couple I can borrow).

Okay, so there's the one I already included in the first post, and this one. Both aim for the same goal: make the sound more lively by tweaking and improving the bass while making sure no detail is being lost in the mids. This worked for me very well.

If you would still like to tweak it, my advice is to play with 10, 21, 42, and 83 for the bass curve, and 1000, 2000, and 4000 for the mids.

On a side note, its a shame that 99% of Trance listeners dont listen to the true sound quality that the producer intended - the raw WAV bounce of the track.

Its always compressed in MP3 form - theres a massive difference between that and listening to a WAV burnt to CD. I know its the day and age we live in,but i always think its a massive shame they never hear the true sound quality of the productions.

I initially felt for the flac trap because of the artwork :( never again, wonder if there's possibility of re downloading all my juno flacs in wav instead, there's something weird going on with certain flacs and noise floor/dampening very hard to explain but wav sounds more true, more organic, less digital and more powerful & punchy with better control on dynamics.

It's funny how all those years ago how I use to adore mp3 cos of storage concerns but truth be told I didn't have proper headphones or even close to decent speakers and didnt hear the difference lol, and now even some flacs make me paranoid.

I basically always leave those settings completely flat, simply because I want the sound coming out of my speakers to be as 'honest' as possible. Also, I'm generally paranoid about touching those settings, since equalizers are filters, and literally all filters produce ringing artefacts in one form or another, often resulting in smudged transients.

I should point out that the vast majority of listeners in general cannot tell the difference between the different format, to the point where I would argue it's largely a pointless skill. No, the actual reason for having a lossless master around to copy from, is because MP3 artefacts do get audible when the audio is resampled recursively, the same way the grunge of magnetic tape becomes more visible every time video gets re-recorded. Keep in mind the MP3 format was engineered to specifically filter out the information the human ear doesn't pay attention to

I do think theres a big difference between a WAV played on a CD and an MP3...bass is thumpier and rounder for a start. But its just not a done thing anymore...everything is streamed now.

I've always used the defaults on my iPod. There are EQ presets but no custom EQ iirc. Most files are .mp3 and it's with a bluetooth AirFly Pro with my AirPods Max. To me this setup sounds great but maybe I have dodgy ears as well as poor eyesight.
