Okay, so I took my 2nd dose of the Moderna vaccine yesterday and holy shit that gave me the worst fever/shivers I've ever felt. One of my arms was hot, and the other was cold. Wtf? Also, the shivers were so bad that I had a difficult time speaking, lol. Could barely drink water at their peak.
Ended up taking a couple of painkillers. Didn't sleep much, but fortunately the worst part is gone. All that's left is a very mild fever and some slight headaches.

Looks like it did its job. I wanna take the Pfizer one next week, finally. Worried that might happen to me as well, and that I'll lose a couple of training sessions.

The side effects are super random. Some friends have gotten no shivers at all, but others do.
You probably won't feel the side effects right after taking the vaccine, so you could likely fit in a light workout there. You might want to hold off on those deadlift/squat PRs, though.
Disclaimer: I am not a doctor :p

edit: For me, the really bad side-effects started almost exactly 12 hrs after getting the shot. If you experience bad side-effects after 15-20 mins, that's probably an allergic reaction. Source

:ROFLMAO:
If it were me, I'd do less weight/sets than the usual. How much less is up to how you feel at that exact moment.
No way, Jose.

(though if I ask the doctors, out of pure precaution, they would tell me to not train for a week, two, ten, forever...)

Nearly 48 hrs after the second shot. Feeling mostly normal now.

Day 2 had its own challenges. Not sure which were directly related to the vaccine, but here's what I felt:

  • Fever. Not as bad as the one that caused shivers, but still noticeable
  • Dizziness. You know how when you stand up after sitting down, you feel a bit dizzy? Well, for me that happened every time I went from, say, lying down on a couch to seated, and then standing up. Each of those actions made me feel super dizzy
  • Headaches. Constant feeling, but felt worse when paired up with the dizziness
  • Lethargy. Not sure if this is due to the vaccine or because I didn't have good (quality) sleep the night after getting the shot, but I felt super tired all day
  • Neck pain. This is one of the randomest side-effects, but I basically couldn't move my neck upwards or sideways without feeling pain.
  • Loss of appetite. I had a difficult time eating eggs and chicken (good, healthy food I usually eat), but I had no problem downing junk food like ice cream and potato chips. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Microchip implant diary log #1
T plus 11h

Left arm hurts. It's like muscle soreness, but it hurts when you touch it. Only my shoulder muscle hurts, not sure which one but I think it's the largest one, and below the stabbing point. But it's nothing more than a nuisance.

Weirdly enough, the stab didn't hurt like at all. Didn't feel it, a mosquito bite is more painful. The doctors were young and really fun. I remember when I was a kid, it hurt like you were getting stabbed with a chainsaw by some mean-looking lady. Which explains why I was always afraid of needles.

Long live Bill Gates!

LOL yeah, the stab for shot #2 didn't hurt at all, but weirdly the one for #1 felt super painful. Not sure why.
That's interesting you got it so high up in the shoulder. I did, too. They must have realized that somewhere up in the shoulder hurts less than the usual vaccine spot.
Brace yourself for the shivers (though if you do get them you probably won't be visiting trancefix haha).

It was the first shot, have to get the 2nd one in 3 weeks, that one's gonna be critical. Probably gonna miss a gym session or two.

This is normal though, Pfizer/BioNTech report around 90% had arm pain after the stab.

It's 21:00, and it's the NFL draft tonight. Studio coverage begins at 23:30, the draft itself at 2:00, and it ends probably at 6:00. Gym opens at 7:00. I want to go to the gym as well, and also get home tomorrow by 16:00.

So I'm calculating. Can't take a nap for shit right now, but it will hit me at 2:00 and then I'll be helpless. Wondering what I should do, and what's the best way to do everything.

I can maybe take a nap during the studio coverage, wake up just before the draft starts, watch it, go to the gym, come back and sleep, then go home. Or I can fall asleep right after the draft, get up at around 11, go to the gym and drive home right after.

And the 2nd round is on tomorrow night. On Saturday, I get up really early to go to the channel for the entire day.

I'm not really normal, am I?

Thus endeth mine 24h without sleep.

The draft was great, the hype kept me awake. Felt sleepy at 5:00, barely stood at the gym, but strangely enough, I had enough strength to keep my progression (lifts went up compared to the previous session). It was only the lack of concentration and general tiredness that were annoying (during driving as well).

Bit of sleep, on to the next thing!

Best weekend this year so far. Found real love recently and am in an open relationship since friday. Its super magic :)
Saturday, i had a crazy action adventure on a political demonstration, like i wrote in the politics thread.
And today, i have a meeting with my open air crew. We will start open air raves, as soon as lockdown ends. We had crazy parties last year and im looking forward to the summer. Good times :)

Slap an SSD on it.
Yeah, I have the money for it right now, but the next thing is gonna be the RAM, and then it's the CPU, and then the cooling... I mean, the laptop is almost 7 years old now. Is it worth replacing parts on it?

oof, 7 years in laptop time is old. That being said, my laptop from when I started college (2015) was more powerful than the one I have right now, but that's probably because it had 16 GB of RAM vs. 12 GB RAM

It's ancient. Yeah ideally I'd need one with at least: 16 GB of RAM, a quad-core CPU, and an M.2 SSD.
