I eventually caved and subscribe to youtube premium, very reluctantly. I use a few youtube channels for home workouts though and could do without ad breaks in between reps because the amount of ads is just getting stupid now. just feels like every company going is thinking of new ways to gouge us for extra money

The worse things for me are the videos themselves.

Let me clarify:

I love many things. But let's take hiking as an example. I watch a video about hiking boot reviews, because I'm buying ones and I want to see what people who tried them think. Soon after I'm bombarded with video recommendations of gear reviews, starting from hiking socks to camping tents and so on and so on.

My brain after a while just starts believing that I need it all - I can't go hiking without wool socks, and I should get the best tent possible. I can notice these thought patterns forming in my mind - get the best possible gear (which is usually very expensive). That will suck your money out if you let it, and in the end you won't even go hiking because, of course, accommodation, gas and food cost too.

And even being fully aware of it sometimes doesn't help.

In last few months, the city I work in has become 1 of the most air polluted city in the world.
The air quality index is so bad. I suspect this is why I cough often at the office, but rarely at home.

Replied to The Thrillseekers request for non template trance for his label with my dividing of opinion track, Entrance to Nirvana. Steve Helstrip (The Thrillseekers) reposted it. In 7 days it went from less than 50 plays, to 500!

Luckily I get a discount on YouTube premium via Vodafone. YouTube has tracks nowhere else does. Old tracks that the other streaming services doesn’t. Adverts would anger me too much so can’t put up with them.

But, has Anyone used tidal? It’s aimed at artists but has over 20 million tracks from regular established artists too. I thought about scraping my YouTube premium and soundcloud and going for that?

Imo this is a valid point. The adds on Youtube are extremely, extremely stupid and misleading. It's not the average tv commercial where the product is at least... the product... sort of. It's just crap.

Oh dude I hate the ads for that one mobile game where the character just shoots at targets and moves left and right. The "enemies" moving toward the character are not a threat at all. It just looks like it would be extremely boring to play

That’s bad news guys. I hope they had a lot of pre warning.

For artists in general to actually get income from sales it always looked like a fair site.

Apologies, I know this is slightly off topic but
I get lots of notifications about various sites which are trying to improve income for artists via promotional exercises or links to do with services artists can provide etc. Patron for example are adding lots of features. . YouTube also have new artists features.

I keep wandering about a site that looks really good called Tidal. Subscription is either $10 or $20. For the higher price you get to stream / upload your track in higher Quality. Has over 20 million tracks in their system. Just wandered as it looks far superior to soundcloud.

From what I’ve been reading, there are two sides to it , the music by popular or established artists you can search and also it promotes (in its web blurb) about it being artist based and for the artist as a main focus. . I thought artists could post their own tracks on an account similar to soundcloud but perhaps I’m incorrect. I do see changes occurring in services for artists but Soundcloud probably has the market currently I believe. If I’m wrong about Tidal then soundcloud might be the only place . I would love to see a complete revamp though, like sections for WIP’s and finished tracks and a section for collaborations and all sorts of separate sections , perhaps even categorised by our own descriptive style where we can post tracks which when somebody clicks on our profile, they can head straight to what they fancy hearing. Il have to re-check Tidal though, maybe it isn’t what I thought.

New music studio

Just ordered this desk me and my wife chose. It will have a printer one end and be used as a desk for my new music studio and computer based general admin for both of us. It’s 140cm by 65cm. It’s going in the bedroom my step kid and their partner have. They move next Wednesday (into the flat I own in a nearby town) The room is around 4 meters by 2 meters and will also have a bed and cabinet in it and a bedside table. Arrives Saturday the 28th of this month.
Ive till now been using a cupboard of 65 by 65 cm and a desk inside of 55 by 55 cm.

‘The cupboard of creativity’ will be no more. We may hold a ceremony .

But its replacement will be HUGE!

Staying up until 6 in the morning to watch the NFL (Eagles) on Sundays will be the death of me. I can already predict I'll be taking a sick day tomorrow.



Short update - Eagles won, slept for 3 hours, still woke up on time for work and feeling serviceable. Nevertheless, like a proper Serbian man, I took a free sick day because why not - I take about 2 per year on average, while we can take one each month. Feeling a bit guilty, but I'll get over it.

Tidal really looks intriguing

Not the same type of thing as soundcloud but you can post tracks you make there as long as you are with music publishing services like tune core , distrokid etc.
Looks like a fantastic place to get heard.
