Very, very, VERY demotivated at work for 2 days now (usually I'm just very demotivated). I know I can sometimes blow stuff out of proportion, but this IT crisis has been bugging me for some time now. This entire year my progress has been very limited, and now I don't even like what I'm doing anymore. I'm not getting any additional responsibilities, I'm not learning, and what little tasks I have been getting are not contributing to my motivation.

But at the same time, can I really be a dick about it? The company has nearly halved since April, and I still have a job.

The great conundrum.

In any case, I'll start asking questions here and looking for work elsewhere, and that's it.

I think that’s all you can do. The issue is that jobs are really important to have. But so is quality of life. So a conundrum indeed.

Depending on your company I’d be careful who you ask the questions too and how though.

Bought a microphone and now I want to do podcast discussing trance/progressive labels/producers old and current. What do you guys think?

My other idea is to discuss medical journals being released on a daily basis worldwide.

Sounds good. I believe trancefix may have plans for a discord channel which could integrate that kind of thing for the labels and producers idea.


Medical things are a good idea also if you’re thinking of doing that too but on a different platform.

I have considered the YouTube thing off and on for a while, tutorials/track breakdowns and whatnot, but keep getting put off by how long it takes to edit and render decent quality videos.
I keep thinking I’d rather be spending that time working on my own music

My workplace is looking to cut the workforce by nearly 50% at the end of next year.

Deciding to announce this a month before Christmas has gone down about as well as you’d expect.

So yeah, I have no idea if my job will exist or not by this time next year

Time to brush up the resume my friend, don’t wait around for the ship to sink, the economy is still (sort of) ok

Had the same thing happen to me last year. The nitrogen “crisis” flipped the whole infra-architecture market on its back and the work defacto dried up.

Best decision ever, doing interior/visuals and serious games for a dredging company now. Twice the pay, half the hours

That really sucks. Will it be gradual, or will December 2024 be the month of cutting?

I myself am really having doubts about my job security as well; hearing more of this certainly doesn't help breed optimism.

I went through 3 massive cuts in the last year alone, over 11,000 people laid off on one of them! Not a great feeling. Hope things work out well for you @LostLegend

I work in food production, industrial scale.
The pay is pretty good and the holiday entitlement we get is ridiculously good.

At the moment we have no idea how the redundancies are going to be structured.

They are getting rid of a number of departments that are less cost effective so they can invest in the ones that are or so they say.
So it depends on how many people take the voluntary redundancy (if they go that route first) and how they structure the mandatory ones.
Skill based, I should be ok, as I work on the flagship product, which I assume won’t be one of the ones they are getting rid of.

I’m gonna get Christmas out of the way first and see what comes of the initial union consultation before making a decision.

I think I might have solved people's cost of living crisis - Just get a bunch of bananas and duct tape and get some fool to buy them off you whilst posting them in a public art museum at $120K each and problem solved .This is similar to how John Cage 4"33 is considered a piece of 'artistic brilliance' when that track is nothing more silence and noise from the audience and opening and closing the cover of the piano. Seriously, this is equivalent to someone posting a photo of King Charles' shit in a art museum. $120,000 for a piece of Banana and duct tape. *FACEPALM*. I can see why Armin's latest cheese is getting so many hits.
