Calling story crap seems harsh to me though
fair enough, "meh" would probably be a more fair.

There is a good artistic argument to be made to re-do an old tale in a contemporary form. Its just that I utterly despise it... lol Personal bias.

Anyone here watched Eastbound and Down or Righteous Gemstones?

I arrived at these quite late, but I have to say they're childishly brilliant. Love programmes where everyone is totally and utterly mental, yet there's the occasional straight person who sits in awe and disbelief like the viewer.

The bloopers alone are gold.

Went to see The Odyssey yesterday.
Sadly all the iMax seats seem to be booked up for weeks apart from the odd seat, which was no good as we were a party of 4, (the 9am showing in Liverpool One was fully booked as an example!) so we ended up going to the iSense Odeon in Switch Island and paying a bit more for the leather reclining seats

Yeah it's great. Definitely up there with the great classic epic movies, won't go as far to say one of the best ever, mind, but still a very, very good film.

If I were to nitpick, I'd say some of the dialogue feels a bit too modern (if that makes sense?) and there's also a lot of running away scenes. Odysseus and the gang land on an island, stumble across some mythological horror and then have to leg it back to the ship.
By the end, this was al I could think about:

which, in all honesty, is a me problem

The Odyssey:

Saw it two weeks ago, not found time to write a little review.
It's a good movie, true. Not the masterpiece a lot of people are raving about though. Oh there is a lot wrong with it.

The bad:

The pacing is absolutely horrendous. It's jumping from scene to scene, and the story is just not gripping you like it should be.
Character development has not been Nolan his strongest game, and in The Odyssey he's done it again. They all seems so dull and flat. And yes we can blame the casting for it. From average Matt Damon to overacting Anne Hathaway to terrible Tom Holland [Who I don't even trust acting in a commercial, damn he's bad]. Such a shame Charlize Theron has a small part, she's always been a favourite of mine. I do have to credit Robert Pattinson though, he was great, but then again poorly written.
With a runtime of almost 3 hours, It still felt rushed. And like @LostLegend said, me and my friends did joke about the run away scenes as well.

The good:

With a budget of 250 million "?". It does look great on IMAX. Especially the scene with the huge/big guys was incredible. I did love that scene.
The score was great as well Ludwig delivered one hell of a theme, and especially the part with the "Siren" was executed very well!
Nolan sure does know how to make big movies, and yes it should be seen in the cinemas [IMAX]. So, yes from a commercial stand of view, it's a huge success.

Verdict:

7.5 / 10

Like I said, it's a good movie, but nothing more. If only Nolan did invest in a new casting director, and perhaps hire someone to help with the script his next movie would be incredible.

seriously go watch that series^ if you're somewhat familiar with the game/ game's lore...

the fact that its completely mute from dialogue makes it that much better.. I found it genuinly relaxing and fun to watch. Especially late night when i'm working and its playing on the screen next to me.

Batman Knightfall 2026 - DC Comics Movie Part 1

I stopped watching after the first 5 minutes after seeing some of the gory scene. It's too graphic for me and annoying blaring synth and drum over the fight scene and dialogue put me off. Give me Dark Knight and the 1960's and 1990's batman animated series over this it's rated R and it's Part 1 of a 3 part series.

Spoiler ahead in this video and this movie is suited for people who like crazy shit and not mature intelligent content. I am not able to get into DC Comic movies at all this includes The Watcher/the witcher whatever it was called with mr mahanthan penis man this is up there as the one of the worst.

Kingdom of Heaven (2005), Director's Cut

For the bad sides of this movie:
- Orlando Bloom casting not quite ideal
- Loaded with "moments", slo-mo scenes etc.
- It's not completely true to history, but then again even the fictionalized part of the story doesn't really stretch the main character's morality enough
- Overall message quite simplistic and one-dimensional
- Some parts of the story a bit hurried

Good sides:
- Visually stunning - just wow
- Epic
- It's a movie about the freaking Crusades, what more would one want
- Enjoyable to watch - even at 3h runtime; I would gladly watch a mini-series of this
