Hwayi: A Monster Boy (2013)
I think I’m into Korean crime/thriller movies at the moment. There’s always something memorable, either the character or the story, including this one.

Next year Eddie Murphy is 61 years old and he has less grey hairs than me :'( and I am half his age.

what did we all think of the new netflix movie Leave the World Behind? thought it was pretentious wank myself, too up itself with all its symbolism to the point where they gave up just trying to tell an interesting story

Gozdilla was such a good movie. 0% preachy pandering (Barbie), 0% trying to be intellectual (Oppenheimer), 0% unfunny retorts (Marvel Cinematic Universe), 100% big reptile that shoots lasers while also having great characters that I give a shit about

watched a 2020 film called "the stylist" last night. it's kind of a psychological horror about a hair stylist and her "trophies", very subdued and character driven. some subtle little hints at her back story that give you just enough to speculate about. can't figure out if I love it or not but it was definitely an intense experience

While Leslie Nielsen is a true gem, I wasn't impressed by this one as much. Police Squad! was much better.

Airplane was a classic, haven't laughed so much since and it still holds up today. 'roger roger, roger over, clearance Clarence....'

Jason Statham takes a break from the Megs and tries...Beekeeping, why it's called the Beekeeper is revealed later on but this is Statham's twist on doing John Wick and it wasn't that bad, flow was ok, typical 'revenge' plot and the body count kept going up.

Acide (2023)
I haven't seen any disaster movies in a while. The premise is interesting, but there's this annoying teenager character who keeps doing stupid things.

The Beekeeper (2024)
Since The Equalizer 3 is the finale of the trilogy, this movie could be an alternative. It's not as badass, but I'd still love to see a sequel. Also, that Lazarus character looks like a perfect cast for Marvel's Sabretooth.

Dune: Part Two

As a huge nerd who read the novel when he was fifteen - my God, these films just did it RIGHT. It doesn't cover everything from the book (just like how the Lord of the Rings films don't), but everything it does cover is done SO WELL, and none of the changes are glaring or nonsensical. And of course, Hans Zimmer was just on top of his game.

Watched it yesterday as well. Really enjoyed it! Actually hoped it would be a hour longer lol. The first half was a bit slower than I liked, but definitely interesting story wise. Visually it was incredible as expected, loads of scenes were used with unavoidable CGI, but done well.

Music wise it was al right from Zimmer, nothing special I think. Think other composers could definitely fit this as well.

The acting was fine. Zendaya was actually pretty impressive.

Here are my thoughts on Dune Part 2. I watched it IMAX. Overall I really enjoyed part 2 as I did Part 1. It's a good adaptation of the book and I have no major complaints. However, I felt the movie was simply too short. Dune has a lot of plot and that's something I really enjoy. I like stories with a lot of depth. There are too many plot points missing from the movie to keep it at a certain length and I felt the story sorta suffered because of it. Denis's version of Dune skips through the story way too quickly. Just like part 1, part 2 should of easily been 60-90 mins longer. That's the biggest weakness of Dune part 2, it's way too frigging short and missing a lot of great story and that matters to me as a fan.

I also hated the ending, which Denis changed. He had the story play out so that Paul did not tell Chani of his plan to start a war with the other houses and control the galaxy and seek revenge for what the houses did to his house. This obviously really upset Chani and she felt sorta betrayed by his actions. This is uncharacteristic of Paul who is deeply in love and devoted to Chani and he tells her everything. In the book Paul tells Chani of his plan first before anyone else knows and she is supportive of his plan and rules in his absence of Arrakis. I felt this change sorta ruined the character Paul and peoples perception of him. To me it was a dumb decision on Denis's part and made to sense to change that plot point.

I am really hoping Denis gets his shit together and releases an extended cut of part 1 and part 2. It's desperately needed for to get the story right and appease hardcore fans who were wanting something more. To me Denis Villeneuve's adaptation of Dune is the 2nd greatest adaptation of Dune outside the book. The greatest adaptation of Dune to this date is still the directors cut of the Sci Fi channels Dune mini series, which is more faithful to the book.

I don't know to me it's looks extremely depressing to watch judging from the trailer. I hope I am wrong.
