Our new album, ‘Bigger Than All Of Us’, will be released on Anjunabeats on July 18. ‘Quicksand (Don’t Go)’ is out this Friday.

This album is us appreciating how amazing this thing we have is. How lucky we are that we get to be part of something like this for 25 years, and to have built a community that cares for each other in the way it does. It’s not about any of us individually. When we all work together to make something happen, something bigger happens.

More news on our album tour to come.

Jono, Paavo & Tony x

I like their conceptual kind of way of thinking. With nice artwork and such.

But to be honest there's not a huge amount of Above & Beyond music that I like. For a name that is supposed to be the champions league of trance, right after armin, tiesto, ferry, paul van dyk... I'd expect myself to like more of their discography. Thing Called Love, Can't Sleep (Signum Remix), Far From In Love, Sun In Your Eyes (Daniel Kandi Remix), two of those are remixes from others of their work. Home is alright. And some stuff that's nice but not that special, I'm thinking of Northern Soul, Anjunabeach. Tracks like Walter White or something, they are nice for a few weeks, but don't really stick. They have some nice remixes (mostly old ones) like Aurora - Ordinary World, Rush & Murray - Epic, The Mystery - The Mystery. And quite some more actually. I think if I have to conclude what they are good at, then it's their remixes from like 2000-2005.

I think their stuff is usually a bit too "light" for me. Too "cute". The female vocals are often very thin and fragile (don't like Justine Suissa much sorry). And the dude, forgot his name, Richard Bedford, is a bit hit and miss for me. I like it in some songs (Love Never Came is a great one for example). It can be a bit moany (moaning), not sure which word to use here.

If anyone wants to pinpoint me towards some of the biggest tracks they did, feel free to feed me some A&B tracks that I should know! ;)

They never really stepped into the EDM/pop/tomorrowland scene though, so I appreciate that.

- They remixed Madonna and Dido both huge names in pop music and Madonna is the queen of pop is she not? Most of their tracks and remixes contains vocals only a handful are instrumental as well.

Plus they were obsessed with the push the button concept which are quite known in most EDM events as well and they transition into trouse too which was trance 2.0 but it wasn't really Trance more like a watered down version of big room.

Yeah but I feel like those are kinda sophisticated. They are trance (in their style), tastefully brought their sound on those pop tracks.

And while they deffo used the "trouse" sound a lot, and they still do, their sets and overall sound is still quite "progressive trance" ish. They don't play David Guetta, Benny Benassi, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. Nor do they release stuff like Blah Blah Blah or hardstyle tracks etc.

So from an overall perspective, I concluded they are still within respectable limits for me, helping the trance scene, rather then destroying (like Armin).

Their discography is really big, but here are a few random favourites of mine;

Anjunabeats - Volume One (Anjuna Deep Mix) [2001]

OceanLab - Beautiful Together [2003]

Tranquility Base - Getting Away [2005]

Tranquility Base - Oceanic [2007]

Above & Beyond - Formula Rossa [2011]

These aren't their most popular though, those are always the vocal tracks.

I'm always happy to see A&B release an album. They can make good emotional pop trance and whenever I got their shows it's a good energy and crowd. Quicksand is nice, I heard that live last year.

Another track from the album:
Above & Beyond feat. Zoë Johnston - ID (Carry Me Home)

I would make a thread but I don't know if it will be a single. Sounds like Almost Home pt. 2, though it's Zoe.
Sounds very lame imo, Zoë carrying the track. Pretty sure this was mostly Jono unlike Quicksand which was... mostly Paavo lol.

I'm not totally blown away by their discography either, although I do recognize the quality and the fact that they haven't strayed too far from their prog style in their shows compared to other artists, like already mentioned in this thread. Their labels are pretty good too. I listen to their ABGT regularly every week, although lately I find it sometimes too much of a snoozefest.
