Initium is my second collaboration with my dear friend Miikka Leinonen @miikka@driftmoon . Unfortunately we never managed to completely finish it.

It's now available on Youtube and Bandcamp together with a short bonus version.

Bad mix though, is it even mastered properly? I'm hearing all sorts of frequencies thrown across the field of sound & it seems to be all over the place (sounds really messy).

It's not an official release. There was no announcement for the song, do you see it on any streaming platform? Andy uploaded it today out of nowhere on his youtube channel. He does this lately with his songs under his real name. He has all the right to upload whatever he wants on his own youtube channel or not lol? Why is it in this topic in the first place?

well it's on Bandcamp, they made a cover art for it so I don't see much difference whether it's on Spotify or not

my point is that it's just lowering own standards for what's good enough to be exposed

I'm not sure what the commotion's about? I personally think it shouldn't come to a surprise to anyone that a song advertised as unfinished sounds, well, unfinished. I agree with Audioforce that it mostly doesn't really matter given that this isn't an official release, but I will say that I don't approve of them asking this amount of money for something that isn't completed (especially when the average completed Armada single is less than €2).

Having said that, it's a shame they couldn't finish it because I personally like the ideas they've put into it. The orchestral parts, vocals and gated pad in the beginning and middle of the song blend together incredibly well. Can't say I like the change in kick, clap and bass between 5:03 and 6:55, but overall that section is pretty solid too aside from the increase in volume (which I assume would've been fixed in the final version).

The youtube clip did hurt my ears so the mixdown must be really that bad.

Yea I would like to to be able to listen to the track's main melody and the sub melodies properly, already tried various headphones and speakers and its still bad. I'm a huge Paul Miller fan and I thought Core 5 was bad in the audio quality department but this one tops it all.

For me it's not a sign that you care about your products. And therefor you don't care much about your audience either.

I assume that they did agree on releasing it prematurely. Nice to see Andy's considering finishing it, would love to hear the full version (should Miikka agree as well, please please agree ).
