Looks like the video is down. I found it on Soundcloud.

I didn't like his last two releases Freefall and Watching Over Me. The Sleepless Year brings it back quality Chicane!
Extended mix.

I wish the track had more of a natural sound just listen to behind the sun and Far from the Maddening Crowds but this is not bad. Just needs a bit of energy.

There is also a disco citizen mix as well. At 22 minutes.

Love this. Per prev comments he’s been going back to his original sound thank F&$k.
I heard this first on Sun:Sets 500 recorded at Mambo.
I encourage everyone to check out the Evolution mixes (not THAT Evolution, Chicanes evolution mixes) of Far From The Maddening Crowds. Really really good versions. I was initially a bit concerned as FFTMC is one of my fav albums of all time and takes me back to a very good place in my life when I bought it on release.

Take your pick. Tough crowd though it's nice to see some people had the balls to dance a bit though. I like the pophlia mix just wish it was throughout the track and had more energy. I didn't like the evolution mixes they were terribly mastered by Armada.

Just improve the beats. Its too sterile/samey/clinical/dry. Apart from that its nice

It's really nice melodically, but the hi-hats seem too loud and sharp at least to my ears. It takes away from a lot of the good things going on. Would love that toned down along with a slightly more prominent bass line.

I actually agree with you here on the bass, it’s quite lacking. But… I still love this album

100% agree the comments on the beats. Why are 90% modern tracks like this, It's so frustrating. The beautiful synths, pads and pianos in this track is what should be shining through the forefront but instead its dominated by the beats, which are also too polished and robotic in contrast to the balaeric 'human' music behind them. Make these beats softer/oldschool and you have one of the nicest melodic progressive house tracks of the year.

Sometimes we wanna be stuck in the past if the music has that kinda soul..for sure this type of old school formula deserves an old school beatwork to make the track breathe a bit as it goes along various different avenues, the beats use to follow the melody throught out different section/changes in the track but with recent stuff it's almost non existent apart from select few artists / releases.
I'd say the type of sound we truely desire might be seen as a bit imperfect/warm sounding given todays standards compared to the current version of the end product, which indeed sounds too polished on the beats side, its like they're afraid to go all the way back to their older styles to capture that true essence for the real forum/reddit type audience to pass it as TOTY and not forgotten about in few months/years time, as it should have those inviting characteristics baked into it basically a fail safe mechanism-realism-soul for the beats structure and it
should be well thought out/cleverly arranged to accompany the melody and the rest of the tracks sections.

(Btw at the same time this was my attempt at translating Daysleeper/Nightclapper, mines, yours and few other users anger/frustration towards todays music standards basically a mashup of rants, sometimes i feel like expressing the frustration others are also experiencing like the Key & peele obama anger translator episode lol, because so many of us are saying the same things over and over again and its like no ones listening and the sound keeps on becoming overly polished as time passes which sometimes may even be perceived as thin bodied compared to full bodied like the older releases aka the golden era, perhaps its an issue with the new mixing/mastering or compression or sidechain related techniques or its daw related or an issue with the shift towards high res sound, could even be anything or mixture of all or nothing at all sadly, guess people like us are forever stuck in the past as they say).

The source of the problem that changed everything?:
* Photographer - Airport (I think I hate this track now, this track alone shifted the whole scene and turned it upside down, the curse of the 140bpm steroids & templates, essentially giving unintentional birth to the current era of dozens of souless carbon copies).

Even if I hadn't known the author of the song, after listening to 10 seconds I would have been sure that it was Chicane :) For how many other artists can you say the same?

I agree with the other comments about the beats. Other recent songs of his have a much better balance, I don't know what went wrong with this one. Also as for the melody, I find it a bit too similar to other tracks of his. But it's still great.

He also usually posts some videos with some behind the scenes details of his productions, maybe we'll get one for this too. And then, later on, he usually does some reworks too, so there's a small chance we might also get a chillout version of this track... who knows.

I'm finally going to see him play in Bristol next month... can't wait!!

This might piss some people off but I feel the same way when listening to Marsh it has a short shelf life. I just wish the percussion were better sounding like how progressive house/trance used to sound like when I listen to Free which has a really nice melody. My ears don't like how the percussion sounds it kinda dampens the groove of the track. When I compare it to say Roger Shah's older tracks they are so well balanced and I could listen to them and truly enjoy how well balanced some of them sound because they have a nice groove. Chicane's older tracks sound so natural and warm too and even Time of Your life sounds lovely or Low sun you can truly appreciate the pads, warmth (that's also missing) tambourine, melody, groove, guitar, piano and it feels more natural, human and it feels that the track itself breathes life into you and you want to get and start dancing and puts a smile in your face and it's so harmonious well balanced. With sleepless year the pads and strings are gorgeous shows that he still can make a nice tune just wish everything else was inline and harmonious all in one like it used to be across the board when it came to music genres and just like his first 2.5 albums.

Most modern tracks are lacking the addictive qualities compared to the old tracks as well it's something I've observed.
