Yeah mine don't have any lateral support as they are little more than a glorified sock with a great sole. So that could be a reason.

How did you manage to resolve the hip imbalance?

Physio and strength loading. I still get a niggle now and again when I road run, but when I treadmill I don't. Found the rowing machine to be better for strength loading on it.

I’ve been trying to reach a new limit for my walking and running routine in the last 2 weekends until my feet hurts. But ended up being lazy in the weekdays. Next: going back to small running routine but with small increments.

Are you aiming for a distance/race? Usually gets me motivated to get out on the road

I'm back to the gym brethren!!

Today I did what I was most afraid of - went to the gym after work. Was so crowded but managed to cling on to one squat rack.

And I'm just not getting weak! Somewhere at the beginning of February I was squatting 150 kg, and barely trained in March and April (deloaded), and then a huge gap up until now. I can squat 100 kg no problem - my hamstrings are killing me but I feel like I would have enough strength for 110 or 120 kg squats. Which is just stunning to me.

I hope I can stay consistent and do this long-term. Going to the gym is always a huge logistics issue in my head.

Why don't I go to the gym all the time?! I honestly don't know. Just feels great getting a workout in, especially on a slow Saturday morning. It will become a grind eventually - especially as I get stronger and start reaching my limits - which is usually when my motivation drops, but nothing beats feeling healthy and strong. I just hope I keep it up long-term.

Good to hear man! For how long, and what's your program like?

I am keeping up the 3 per week schedule. It's week 4 though so early to make any predictions.

3 months in, going 3 times a week to balance with work.

4k run, 1k row (warm up). Weights for 40 mins. Do 3 sets of 10 reps focusing on different different areas each visit. I've managed to up the weights by a few kg now.

Still going with the same route, but now managed to finish it 30 minutes faster than when I first started
Also, based on BMI I'm now just overweight, no more obese

I donate blood plasma twice a week,
which can burn up to 4000 calories in total!

Also I run 2-3 times a week and do strength training with bodyweight. Calisthenics and a bit of athletic and gymnastics inspired stuff.
Love to use resistance bands as well.

I also take part in local Parkrun events as often as possible.

Update:

Food is a massive factor too, of course.
I don't use processed or separated supplements. I Eat a lot of oats, fruit and vegetables. I eat whole grain bread without flour, which makes a big difference for the digestive system, but also has countless other benefits (it's called Wunderbrot).
I avoid wheat flour products and meat. Anything that's causing inflammation.

I daily use Ashwagandha powder, which is basically a dried and powdered root of the plant. Really good for lowering blood pressure, it also makes me more relaxed and at the same time makes me concentrate, focus better.
Great for sleep probs too.

I also use Moringa, it's really good for everything blood circulatory system related, another wonder plant, that has pretty much no cons.

I've been feeling lower back pain for a couple of weeks now, but what's worrying is that it's changing a bit. First it was near the spine, then it spread to the right side, and now it's closer to the spine again.

Not sure what exactly aggravated it. When I'm training or running, I'm not feeling it almost at all, everything goes smoothly. But after a day or two, the pain slightly worsens. I also make it a point to stretch and work on my mobility after every workout...

Puzzles the fuck out of me, but what's keeping me from going to a doc is that I'll probably get told to spread an NSAID cream and rest. I don't believe that to be the solution, even if the point is only to manage the symptoms.

Been consistently weightlifting for the last 10 years or so. I see it more as a hobby, so it was easy for it to become a lifestyle for me.

I've also gained a lot of knowledge in these years on the diet side and I eat a balanced diet without excluding anything. I'm a firm believer that in the long run exclusion diets never work and everyone should learn first and foremost how to properly include most foods that they like into a balanced diet that works for them.

This morning I matched my squat record, and possibly a deadlift one as well (can't remember)! Had to use straps for the deadlift which felt like cheating, but the gym has no chalk.

I guess I mentioned running earlier this year at some other topic... Anyway, I am relatively serious about it, totally over 2k km pretty much evert year. This year the figure is somewhere around 2350 kilometres total, second biggest amount of my life.

I have made the following plan to keep me motivated. Finnish winter is not really motivating for running after all.
- March I will have a vacation in Cologne and I will attend in half marathon while I'm there.
- Mid-June I will be running marathon in Finland. I registered to marathon event yesterday evening.
- If everything goes well and I don't have big injuries, I might try to improve my marathon PB somewhere around September/October.

Might have the stupidest lower back injury ever.

Doesn't hurt at all when I squat 150kg or run 5k, but hurts when I take a shit or just sit around.
