May just be my language bias but any hip-hop that's not in English just sounds so poor to me with its flow. It's like the English language is built for hip-hop and others are unnatural and inflexible when it comes to rhythm/delivery. Even UK English can struggle sometimes, with everyone using similar intonations in order to force a flow to work. The French language is maybe the only one that occasionally has moments, but even then, not that good....

Maybe. Prolly a bit of a biased statement. But sure english (american english) is def the classic and most natural fit, but other languages can also be interesting. Gives it a different flair.

Maybe it's because you just don't understand the language? German, French, Serbian/Croatian/Bosnian, all great for me (although I don't understand French or German either)!

Doesn't help not knowing the language and missing out on the clever word play/intellectual component for sure, but It's the flow, rhythm, delivery etc that I find never works outside of English. Would happily be proven wrong.

Any love for Aesop Rock? Great song about forgetting about things you might have been really talented at as a kid which resonates because I recently rediscovered my love of painting
Searched his name and this came up. I’ve been a huge fan for years, Rings is one of my favorite songs of his. IMO he’s a top 3 lyricist of all time.

Really looking forward to his new album coming out this year—this is the single.

His discography feels like a cryptic autobiography. Crazy how after all these years he’s still at the top of his game. Legendary dude for sure.

Just like I thought—this dude is on an all-time legendary run. Still rapping like the rent’s due, with narrative-driven lyrics and creative storytelling. He even produces most of his own tracks. Just incredible work all around. Highly recommend giving this a listen.
