Not gonna lie, quarantine would have been (would be) extremely boring without modern tech

Not necessarily, during spring when we were in lockdown, I was doing a lot of gardening almost every day, walked my dog often, and I was also reading quite a bit.

That said, I still had my laptop for college projects, but the point is I didn't use it for fun.

This was interesting to watch. I agree in that, for example, watching too much TV or scrolling endlessly on reddit can be entertaining but also feel like you're wasting your life away. In contrast, boredom can make you do more fulfilling tasks like studying or volunteering.
I remember when I volunteered for Habitat one spring break a couple of years ago. We did menial tasks like painting and removing the root of a tree. At a surface-level that sounds pretty boring, but I look back on that as one of the more fulfilling experiences from college.

10 days into quitting Insta and porn. The first few days were a bit tough, but after that I already felt the effects. Feel so much better, firstly about the fact that I quit, and then about the fact that it's having the desired effect.

Internet is one of the best thing ever that's happened to humanity, but as with anything it has to be used wisely otherwise can cause a lot of damage.
A lot of the most salient points on the subject have already been covered in this thread.
Trick is to use internet in ways that will lead to improvements in your life. However a lot of people are not aware of the harmful effects of some things like social media addiction, porn, etc. It can never and should not replace real life experiences and relationships but still a truly amazing resource to have at one's fingertips.
It's helped me in life in a huge number of ways and I shudder to think what my life would have been like without it.

10 days is very impressive. I remember you mentioned your record was 4 days?
I'll probably break my record of like 3 days just because of how damn cold it is right now. My hometown never really goes below 0 deg C, but here we are.

My record for quitting Insta was 2-3 months (last year at this exact time) I think. I just got too bored and logged in again, even though I knew I really shouldn't. With porn, I'm not sure, but I think it was more than 2 weeks. Mind you, I still masturbate, just less than I did with porn.
What was the desired effect?
To rely less on porn/Insta as the primary source of my dopamine fix (for different reasons, of course). Ever since quitting, I feel the need to socialize more, and to "pick-up" as well (as opposed to an easy, virtual solution, which only made me lazy and passive).

Alright. Who the fuck cares. I'm going to do the same. A porn-hiates. I'm not really addicted to porn or whatever. At least that's what I think.... I feel like it's more "out of boredom" than actual hornyness for me. But maybe that's even more stupid than going there when actually wanting to... have a wank... lol.

Anyway, I like how open we are here on the forum :p

Yeah I wasn't addicted to porn neither, but it still isn't that good for you, in my opinion. Especially long-term. See how it goes for you, good that you tried.

Power went out in my area all morning due to the snow/arctic winds. Just got it back a couple of minutes ago.
I'm looking forward to showering.
