Hello friends, happy to share an upcoming mini album from Rambal on a new sub-label of French Lumbago - Metallic States called "Carbon Vibration", a 6-tracks tribute to the almighty Need For Speed series from PS1. Inspired by the worx of the great Rom Di Prisco.

Tracklist:

A1 - Carbon Vibration
A2 - Kto Ya?
A3 - Fifth Element
B1 - Tokyo Extreme Racing
B2 - Destination Unknown
B3 - 1996

Words from distro:
After a successful first release, Metallic States is back with a new black-smith joining the forge: Rambal Cochet. The producer shows again how prolific he is at the moment with a mini LP composed as a tribute to Need For Speed. At this occasion he crafted 6 surprising tracks, including 4 of his typical Neo Goa / Progressive Trance tracks and 2 aery Drum’n’bass experimentations to open the sonic spectrum of Metallic States. Only one question remains: what’s coming next? View attachment 2252

@rambalcochet breaking our hearts again with another vinyl only release. Back with his neo-goa sounds, but also some wonderful atmos jungle/breaks that I am absolutely loving (even though I can only hear 2 min sample). Check A3! Love your versatility dude. Here are my 4 favorites from the EP below.

A1 - Carbon Vibration

hopefully some full samples emerge of one or two tracks so we international listeners can experience too. I like A2 and B2 very much.

Lovely one for sure! Would love to listen to the extended version. Sucks it's vinyl-only. I know some of y'all love it, but there's a reason why it's not being used by everyone.

Sheeet another vinyl only. Good tracks Rambo but for us poor people in South America it’s game over.

A3 is the closest to the Need For Speed sounds. B2 and B3 also decent.

Look to those complaining about vinyl only releases but this is the only way a producer can make money in the modern scene. It’s not like any of you here would buy the digital tracks if it came out, you’ll just stream it and give nothing back to the scene. Vinyl is actually giving a lifeline back to producers, even if it’s just small one compared to what it used to be.

I do buy the releases FYI, as do plenty others. Most of the stuff that ends up vinyl only isn't on streaming services as well. My issue with vinyl (though I buy it anyway), is that there isn't distribution in the USA. I typically am paying $30-40 for a single record in such cases with shipping from the UK and Germany. The carbon costs of pressing and shipping vinyl around the world should be considered as well. Not sure what the solution is, but me and the dude above from South America wish there was another way. I'd pay more for the digital to avoid this reality, as I don't spin the vinyl once I rip them in to my library. Also, I would estimate 10-20% of the presses I get from such acquisitions are pretty shitty, sounding very different from the digi releases. Rambal's Griffe release being one example of a terrible press. And then I bought that release a second time digi when it finally came out. I'll accept this reality but I am not going to stop lightly complaining about it.

I'd say 95% of trance listeners are not buying music though probably, so its a fair comment. It makes it much easier to prevent full samples from appearing on the youtube sites. The exclusivity bias it has to rich people does make it an issue. $30-$40 for a vinyl is crazy honestly. I like the idea of delaying the digital release for a year, or something like that.

I don't know I am just guessing the motivations behind this vinyl only trend. @rambalcochet what's the appeal to you for doing lots of vinyl only releases? Is it the better income like I am guessing , or just random you happen to find yourself releasing for these vinyl only labels?

I'm curious too as I've seen label folks saying they have to do 3-400 vinyls to break even and 500+ to profit. I try to bundle records to reduce the shipping but it's still spendy even then. I would have zero issue paying the $15 for a vinyl at a store, though it's just not going to happen with this niche EU stuff in the US.

It's mystic, for me is better to release a digital after the sold out of physical copies. Like example Italian Where We Met, digital version is available now I guess. Otherwise you have like 1 or 1,5 EU from the solds, plus minus. So only the gigs can help you to stay alive.

This must be some cultural thing. I live on the country side surrounded by nature and agriculture and the closest fine record store is (luckily) only 68 kilometres from my homebase. ofc manytimes there are only 1 or 2 pieces from a release at the shop, (like Rambal's 'Seeds Of Unconsciousness' EP, only one piece was available and the records store was not able to order more), but its the part of the adventure, you never know what you will get! It makes me excited all the time. sad to read that you can't experience this in the USA.

I don't think this is some kind of a new trend, in 'House' and 'Techno' is a normal thing for 35 years. Back in 2007, 2008, 2009 was really hard to find any good music at digital shops, the great stuff was all on vinyls, now there is alot good music also at bandcamp and most of the vinyl only stuff is on youtube, its alot easier to get good music into your ears. imho in a world full of digital only relaeses, there must be also some vinyl only's)

I do only trust labels that are releasing 1 or 2, max 6 releases in a year and those labels are mostly dedicated to vinyl.. those massive labels like 'Pure Trance' that releasing a single every week are from my view catastrophic, nobody will ever explore their back catalogue, all that music is important only for a week or two. its a great thing to find a label from the 90's that has only 9 or 17 releases and most of them are pure gold.

well maybe Rambal's records will be collector's items in the future, keep on the good work!)

Listened through a couple times tonight. Stellar release, one of the strongest for me this year in this style. Tokyo Extreme Racing, Kto Ya?, and Carbon Vibration are my picks in that order, though Destination Unknown is excellent too, as are the dreamy DnB tracks. @rambalcochet tis a great press too. Pick this one up folks, you only really need one kidney amirite?
