Hi everyone,

Great thread this! Especially as I love nothing more than discovering a diamond-grade trance tune from yesteryear! Thank you for all your posts so far.

Anyway, the Michael Woods Remix of Salt Tank - Eugina is, in my opinion, an outstanding trance tune for a number of reasons:
a) The melody is just beautiful, enriched by the lush mysterious trippy female vocal sample whispering sun-kissed sweet nothings into your ear.
b) Escapism - You can close your eyes and be transported somewhere else. Personally, it takes me to an Ibizan sunset.
c) Build - A good trance tune should take you on a journey. Time should be spent making the beginning and end just as interesting as the middle. This does that.

What a fucking amazing track. Its one of the best ever and thats despite the piano melody being pretty basic and stale. It works for whatever reason and the whole experience is magic. Michael Woods remix for me and then the original. There's also a Pacific Diva version which has some very cool parts.

Eugina is actually from 1994. It first appeared in a promo for their 1994 album ST3. I imagine that around 2000, Salt Tank and their label realized the original sound of Eugina fit well with the anthem trance era and thus re-released it along with several other remixes.

Its not as bad as most of his other productions but it just doesn't sound anywhere near as good as the other mixes. Sadly a common trait with Tiesto's tracks.
