Super8 & Tab - XX (Old S8&T Style) [Flashover Recordings]

The working title of this track XX is the symbol of the celebration activity of 20 years of Super8 & Tab, so it will be released this year.

And I have found another similar old Super8 & Tab style ID on their Ins. Now I am dreaming of an album haha.

First Aid was their first single released on Anjunabeats. Hence the XX anniversary in the title.

I think these types of melody deserves a sub genre of its own just so no one gets it confused with other 2000 already released tracks and wondering why it all sounds recycled lol.

I will never have a soft spot for Anjuna pluck melodies, its just a whole lot of copy pasting and then change a few notes around and voila,,lets release it..let's just hope it's a filler track for their album.

Nothing wrong with remixes infusing anjuna pluck as backing melody though, can't think of many examples but here's one I really like:

Here it is. NGL, hearing it in "full" makes me think less of it now.
The bass isn't what I would expect, there are some weird fluctuations on the plucks in the build-up and the overall energy doesn't feel there.

Into and All Heaven (uncredited production, A&F track) sound a lot punchier and heavier.

I'm not one to point and laugh; I like my slob, my cheese, hell, I pump up the fucking jam for every single 90's dance record out there, but this.... what the fuck is this? People were raving this to be a comeback, a proper S8&T track like the good old days. The earlier versions might be different, with a proper kick, an actual bass and all that, but this is just... some melody on top of non-good-cheese. FUCK I HATE BAD CHEESE

Its around 7,5/10 after hearing the full thing, I dont like the short vocal uuuh part, but the rest is just good!

Don’t think the melody is as strong as many of their classics. I also think the synth is too harsh, it’s not as ‘sweet’ as Elektra Irufushi etc.

also don’t think the modern kick works well with the oldschool offbeat bass. It’s basically the bass I use (el Sueño etc), it gives a cool vibe and energy if it’s combined with a good (soft) kick. The one here isn’t the worst, but still feel like it’s too ‘thumpy’.

I do like the acid-part kinda. I used to be a big fan of these guys, more than a decade ago, time flies.
