Hey everyone!

So I've just received a pm from Ricky aka The Digital Blonde that right now he's working on a new album!

It will be called APEX and will be a mixture of the "NEON" and "The Witches" albums. He told me it's ok to let TranceFix know about this 😊

4 tracks with the very old style trance riffs are nearly finished at the moment.

It won't be out on JOOF as he's trying something different at the moment - I'm gonna update the thread with more info over time.

Can't wait for this! \o/

Nice! The fact that it's not on JOOF and he's "trying something else" has me even more excited.

The fact that this man can put out 4 spellbinding albums (all 2h+ no less) and working on 5th one while his collaborator can't put the finishing touches on a single album is beyond infuriating as a huge 00.db fan ...

Having said that, there are only a handful of artists which have never failed me - Astral Projection, Ovnimoon, Orkidea, Gabriel & Dresden, Activa (yes I know I'm a sucker for the clinical sound ...) and of course The Digital Blonde. With a name like APEX, this better be a killer album!

Somewhat following the same path, but I can't help but wonder if there's more than just "trying something different". I mean, The Digital Blonde has been part of JOOF catalogue for like eternity and it feels slightly odd that the collaboration has ended. It can be just natural and nothing major of course, but I also feel some frustration regarding the current JOOF Recordings sound as well as endlessly forthcoming albums...

Excited to hear what Digital Blonde has to offer next.

I know it was 'in the works' longer than the Astral Projection album, but I can't imagine new 00.dB material now. Their sounds are so far apart, even if they met in the middle would either of them play that in their sets? Ricky maybe, J00F I wouldn't think so.

The thing is that even though there's a huge sound shift within JOOF, John has always pushed any TDB material without ever batting an eye. JOOF is still a big name, with a big pull, and I doubt previous albums would have reached the somewhat wide audience they have done without John's support.

Digital Blonde remains an incredibly niche artist despite one of the best discographies in trance (probably the best musically in the past 15 years), and I don't know how much success he can have on a smaller platform.

Maybe send him a message to ask JOOF to stop playing flat and lifeless progressive house that doesn't go anywhere.

This is huge news. Ricky is releasing bomb and bomb, with non-stop prime form for last 3 years. I thought the 00.DB album would be what we were blessed with but a new monster instead has been shown. I cannot wait.

That's just not true though is it? ;)

The AP album has been "in the works" since 2006!

Most of Ricky's recent releases and remix productions haven't been on JOOF except for Arteeka, the Neon albums and Legato/Callakuma 22.
So it looks like the departing has been going on for some time.

If you take out the Neon albums of wich the first was released in august 2018 he had only 3 releases on any of the JOOF labels.

Well, outside of the albums most of the material he put out is remixes, so it's normal JOOF is not publishing those. However, for the EPs/singles he did produce, they landed on Psy-Trance labels more often than not

Excited, really love his releases lately and 2023 releases were pure class. Plus the fact that he is not getting as much attention as some lame modern producers makes me want to push his music. Ofc there are others, bit he genually seems like great guy.

NEON 3 was incredible. I would love him to mix up his style for this album, but still try something themed. Great new all round.
