Yeah, really good but not in a top 10 (or 20) of Ricky's productions and remixes. The problem is that this wonderful man has set such high standards for trance music during the past decades that is very hard to reach them with every new production. So yes, still trance on a high level in the poor 2020s but comparing to his other works nothing special.

Excellent one, will definitely support as well.

I've completely missed out on the entirety of JOOF Recordings myself, planning on checking some more releases before J00F's new album is out :Ꭰ

Listened to the whole thing now, and I can pretty confidently say that this song didn't really justify its length. At over eleven minutes, I'd expect a whole lot more evolving soundscapes and distinct parts composition-wise, but sadly, there's only one four-bar melody, and it's saved for the breakdown+drop where it's repeated over and over again without any interesting changes. A bright light in the darkness, this ain't

I'd love to hear your Top 10 Rickys production (Original & remixes)

Ok, last night I'll tried to find my personal Top 10 'The Digital Blonde' tracks. And I mean just tracks. Yes, no remixes, collabros or similar things. I also cut off every 00.db track and even the standalone tracks 'laptrancer' and 'audio illusion'. Also, 'antheum' is originally from pre-blonde project 'The Digital Blondes'. I need to do this because absolute nobody can make a Ricky Top 10 list when you need to consider every (!) production he was involved in. ;)

'nuff said. Well, here is my top 10 list with tube links:

01. Rainsong 2011 ->
02. Zozy (Blue) (1st Version) 2012/2013 ->
03. Only You (N3on Version) 2021 ->
04. Noc2one (Midnight Version) 2013 ->
05. Hydro 2011 ->
06. Wishmaster 2017 -> - YouTube

07. Argo 2016 -> - YouTube

08. Strange Events 2018 -> - YouTube

09. Plutox 2021 -> - YouTube

10. Sanctum 2011 -> - YouTube

11. Bonus: Gothica 2003 -> - YouTube

12. Bonus: Synthony 2024 -> - YouTube

....Yes you have seen it alright; No 'Legato' in my list. Dont get me wrong, the track is not bad (especially for the 2001 times) but to this day, I stil do not understand the hype for this track at all. Maybe it is because it was (and is) Rickys only 'hit', because it was frequently played by the likes of Tiesto and Armin back then. Hell, there are still some trance family dudes who think that this 'Legato' track is a one hit wonder by an obscure artist name 'The Digital Blonde', never heard from him again since 2001 (in mainstream), haha.

I am also not a big fan of Ricky works prior-2010s because excerpt from 00.db, it was mostly lo-fi trance (like the whole synthology album). not sure till today if that was because of his lack of better equipment or it was just his style of producing back in that day. And yes, 'Serenade' from 2011 is my face album from hin to this day. The whole album was and is 'Trance Music' in perfection. <3

My absolute fave track from Ricky is 'Rainsong' from his 'Serenade' album. Despite producing sooo many jewels, he never reached the raw organic power of this masterpiece again. The 6-minute buildup to the break is ....unreal. During the years I listened hundreds of times to this nearly 11 Minute monster and it never gets bored or lost to time. Of course, it is an unpopular opinion for sure, but in my mind this track is still extremely underrated and well.... unbeaten. At least for me.

It's also a shame that the original 'Zozy' track was never released because it is so muuuuch better and more organic than the final version from 2018.

Despite being not a fan of DB's earlier works, 'Gothica' gets me every time. I have a soft spot for this track since release. Back then, TDB was already forgotten in big room trance but this jewel with an remixed 'Suspiria Theme' break in it is just...great!

Second bonus track from last year shows in 12 minutes why I Love The Digital Blonde: The whole track is nothing but a love letter to Rickys fans because it is soooo pure DB sound in a modern 2020s style. Fantastic!

So yeah, that's my TDB list.... and i'm pretty sure no one here will post the same top 10 Ricky songs. ;)

Agree so much with this. I would also consider the "original" one of his best works overall. Apparently he lost the original file and had to re-create the track. Then went with a different approach.

There was also one other track around that time called Providence, which was just on Youtube and never released. Also a big shame.

I am aware of that one, but it's not the one I mean. :) Around 2015 or so, TDB made another track called Providence that had a music video on the same channel as the original Zozy. It was never released and it's nowhere to be found now.

EDIT: It's actually still on youtube:

+1 for the original Zozy over the Neon version. When he said he was remaking it i hoped it would be a (close) copy of the original. I don't mind the version we got on Neon but it's clearly inferior to the original.
