Hello there, I have a question for you guys :) I'm asking you dear TF matadors if you are still active and if you visiting trance events, clubs etc....
Would be quite cool to meet some of you in person...(Don't worry... Despite some of my comments here, I'm probably the nicest guy ever 😁)
I have a suspicion that most of you are rather home listeners but maybe I'm wrong...

So have you been to Asot, Dreamstate, Transmission? Or possibly on a small venue?

I do visit parties regularly, every month...

I was an avid party go'er up until my 27th I think. Festival/parties like (trance) energy, Mysteryland, Dance Valley et., various label events like PURE and the now defunct Intuition aswell as just, well, regular trance nights by local clubs.

The problem was that they started interfering with other important stuff in my life whilst I was still able to enjoy the music, which was what mattered most to me, on my headphones.

I'm now at the point where I don't really miss the parties of yesteryear but hold fond memories of them non-the-less. Family/Job/Company/social life take up most of my time, and any little self-offtime I currently have I either spend in/on the water or making music myself :)

I'm not even ashamed to admit (and it's probably very clear as well) that I've never been to a trance festival. Or at least I've avoided a stage dedicated to, say, psy-trance on a multi-genre festival.

And I would imagine it doing nothing for me, really, especially the newer stuff - I discovered trance 10 years ago anyways and before that I was too young to live through the glory days of it.

I prefer to dance, rather than jump and get wild. I also don't trip my balls off, just drink. I really love partying to house and techno. You can dance slowly, move about, and it feels really natural to me.

One of the best times I've had at festivals was on some small stage where they played the non-4x4/acid house (both classics and newer ones).

I caught this set, among others, and really loved it. The tracks at 29:00 and 32:49 especially. Listening to the set now it's average, but it worked really well for me then.

That said, if a lineup looked amazing to me and I sort of knew what style/era of music they were going to play, I would definitely attend a trance festival. 90s stuff especially, I think that's the best era just for the experience (although up until 2007 everything works for me), but also mixed with lots of techno and house from that era as well. OR, lots of vocal, sing-along stuff. Cheesy, but why not. I once caught myself singing along to the first half of the Shivers album in a car - I never do that!

Also, just for meeting you guys, (and if the stars aligned) I'd defo go to a smaller festival like Lumi was.

j/k I haven't been to a trance festival either. But I would be so down to be at a multi-genre festival that plays shitty psytrance 👺

Yeah, as much as I like to shitpost sometimes on here I'd totally go to Lumi and meet the core trancefix crew

I have weekend tickets for ASOT 1000, and also for Armin Only "This Is Me"

I've gone to every Trance Energy and ASOT event since 2007. Even some of the "Before The Energy" pre-parties the day before. I only missed ASOT 950, where I didn't care too much for the line-up.

And then there are parties like Electronic Family, think I only missed one edition of that...

I have visited Lumi Beach Festival only once. Shame on me. It's so far to Zandvoort. And outside, is always a gamble weather-wise. But I guess the truth is also that I don't have many people in my life who like to go to all these trance events. So yeah. End up not going.

BTW: Ferry Corsten had plans (before covid) to do a "full night only ferry, only ferry corsten productions" event. Now I will DEFFO buy tickets for that.....

Also.. the older I get, the broader my music taste becomes. So..... I also like to go the 90's parties (yeah, really). There is going to be a "Guilty Pleasure" night in Groningen next month, with artists like DJ Jose vs G-Spott, 2 Brothers On The 4th Floor, Mental Theo & Charly Lownoise. In my hometown Assen there is also a yearly 90's night with various acts like Vengaboys, Dune, etc. 😂

Yeah me too, I used to love this stuff back in the 90s. Not so many parties of this kind around...but there is one huge eurodance festival each year in Prague.

Been into Lumi, ASOT and Transmission festivals abroad. Lumi is definitely something worth checking out. Amazing atmosphere.

The local festivals/club gigs here in my country have naturally been on a pause during the pandemic, but I do not even miss those, as the line-ups where usually full of commercial crap. So calling those Trance events where questionable.

The last place I went was trance sanctuary's boat party two months ago. I did spend the whole evening on the progressive deck which had great line up, two local guys for opening and closing set and headliners Fuenka and Farius. Great event they finished the prog deck with prog psy.

I think it will be cool, just keep the thread opened and we can discuss future events and possible meet ups.

Haven't gone trance clubbing or to a festival since erecting extra beds in my house for small people - around 14 years ago

But if anyone used to frequent Gatecrasher One in Sheffield, England, before it burnt down, you may have seen me. I'd be emulating an epileptic sufferer playing Tetris Effect on most Thursdays and Saturdays.

I used to go very hard from 18 to 27, mainly to Lee Haslam's Slinky nights in the UK south coast, probably the last greatest Trance club night to exist. It was the best nights and years of my life, and I mean that completely. The venue was an old operahouse, with different tiers and balconies, and so many classic only nights would be put on. Every great Trance artist of the time would play there, and also some Hard House nights too, which are alway fun when you're on bags of pills.

The last Trance rave I went to was in 2018, NYE, Sheffield. Classics night and at 6am we were all still at the front just going mental to Signum, who is one of the best Trance artists that you could hope to see live. Ultimately it was too much of a mind blow, my body simply cant handle the booze and ecstasy like it used too. I got old. The following days are too brutal physically and mentally. Now I am more interested in outside festivals with all the different kinds of electronica, good places to take psychedelics and wonder/dance and not the hardcore club environments.

Yep gatecrasher sheffield and code Birmingham were my last around that time too. Been to some good open festivals where it's a mixture of music genres and the odd silent disco.
Too old for that stuff now. Try to fit in a few live bands if I'm into them.

I go almost always to the psy-trance parties because this is what is the dominant scene in my country. Many of the parties have goa or dark forest psy where for 16 hours there is no release of the relentless beat not for even a second. If one DJ dare to drop a breakdown well then the hippies would probably malfunction on the dancefloor or rip the dj to pieces.

But often I will make travels to the festival which has the prog, psy-chill, duck-psy and good full-on. It is an amazing supersonic and spiritual experience with love in the atmosphere, the fantastic people and the mind blowing decoration of the stages. I've been too Ozora and Boom and god you wont believe the energy and musical sensations you will experience at these festivals. It's like being on an alien planet.

I am anti social in real life. When I was mixing clubs, the dj was not seen. This all changed around 2009 and festivals went crazy. I have yet to go to a festival and usually avoid crowds at all costs. Anything more than 10 people and I usually will avoid. However, some of my fav tunes are festival tunes. Kinda strange how it all works out :)

I used to frequent the Republic and sink a few White Stripes in my time. A shame the place burnt down.

In regard to attending Trance festivals...ive been invited to DJ at one next summer...and i cant believe the lineup im part of - literally some of my favourite ever classic Trance DJs/Producers...i hope some of you can come to it when i can release details of it!

Went last night to Amy Wiles and Trance Wax, I heard a lot more trance than I expected and the tickets were 9£ on the first release which was dirt cheap, not I didn;t spend another 65 but oh well... Overall 4th going out this year and roughly 2 trance sanctuary and 2 anjuna ones. I would love to go to a festival, but the only ones that wouldn't break the bank are local UK ones.

Luminosity is but a dream for now...

Nah it's too expensive. A ticket for Friday and Sunday are both ~70 euro (!!!). This isn't a Madonna concert, jeez.

Some people in Zandvoort offer their room for almost a THOUSAND euros for a night LOLOLOLOL. There's a room on AirBNB in Haarlem for 160 euro, you don't more I guess. Still I'd need a train ticket to Haarlem, aprox ~60 euro. Taxi from and to the event in Zandvoort....

And then I'd have to spent on drinks and food as well.....

I'm saving like 400 euro by not going... That's just too much money for only a few interesting sets.

Could you camp there, for instance? For a drunk single-night sleepover it wouldn't be that bad.

Officially you can't camp just somewhere, unless it's an actual camping.

But I'm not really a camping kind of guy anyway 🤭🤭🤭

Aren't I better off saving the money for a JP8000 to use in future Julian productions anyway?

technically no. camping or "wild camping" is not legal.

however, speaking from experience, there's a loophole in the terminology that allows you to "camp" (as opposed to camping) at certain places that aren't campings provided you (for instance) leave within 8 hours, don't cook/just spend the night etc.

managed to dodge a 140 euro fine once when the fuzz busted me sleeping in the dunes for a dawnpatrol surf session. "no officer, i'm not actually camping, I just "camp" for 8 hours and then i'm gone. see? no cooking, no polution, not even a tent. Just an m90 gortex sleeping bag and a surfboard 😙"
