Nice one mate. I didn't go in the end. It was a bit expensive in the end.

Might go for a whole weekender next year, if I'm quick with a place to stay.

Edit: Where did you sleep? It's all so F'in expensive. A little center parks house for a few days, thousand euro ??? I'm not going to pay 1.000 euro for a few nights on a crappy bed, plus the actual ticket and food and transport.... I don't know how you people do it.

Hotels dare to ask 400+ for a night lol.

Until my mid twenties I used to go to as much as possible and it went from Mysteryland to Thunderdome and anything in between.
But you know how it goes, certain things in life change and it gets less. Nowadays me and my friends choose a festival or party to go to and have the best time.

Other than that I either listen with my headphones on or I make my own tracks.

I've visited Trance Energy (NL), Dance Valley (NL), Transmission (CZ) and Luminosity Beach Festival (NL) multiple times and I'll probably visit Luminosity next year. Over the years (at least last decade) I've become very picky about the festivals I visit. Only classic stages interest me, with the crossover Techno - Trance being my favorite (Oliver Lieb, Marco V).

Very expensive indeed, I spent a little more 1000€ total (nearly 600€ for 4 nights in Haarlem including breakfast and bike rental), plus the train from France (but I'm like 15 km from the Belgian border luckily) and the ticket to the festival. But was worth it! Yet I couldn't make more than one festival per year seeing how much prices have skyrocketed (Last year 3 nights at the same hotel and bike rental was roughly half the price, cicra 250/300€).

Likewise! I only ever attended the classics stages @ Luminosity Beach Festivals for the past decade or so.

Nah it's too expensive. A ticket for Friday and Sunday are both ~70 euro (!!!). This isn't a Madonna concert, jeez.

Some people in Zandvoort offer their room for almost a THOUSAND euros for a night LOLOLOLOL. There's a room on AirBNB in Haarlem for 160 euro, you don't more I guess. Still I'd need a train ticket to Haarlem, aprox ~60 euro. Taxi from and to the event in Zandvoort....

And then I'd have to spent on drinks and food as well.....

I'm saving like 400 euro by not going... That's just too much money for only a few interesting sets.
I've paid like $400 for kpop concert tickets, lol ticket prices are fuucked right now

Well, not exactly a trance event, but a multi-genre festival here which I'm attending like 4th or 5th time this Friday. Defo gotta catch Pryda spin it. Unfortunately Wu Tang are playing on Sunday, and I won't be going that day.

Damn. Last night I said out loud that this is my retirement from festivals. We spent ages waiting, going through the immense crowd and in the end, not really enjoying ourselves.

But by god, a big part of me wants to go tonight.

I guess staying at a smaller stage with people who share a similar taste would've been much better. Prydz was alright, but I don't see a way you can dance and enjoy the music when you're packed like sardines and when it takes ages to order drinks or take a piss.

Haha. We all go through that, it seems to be an age thing……

Smaller intimate parties are way better!

Yeah, definitely an age thing. My parents would say it's a sign I should get married now.

But honestly, until the end of days, I'd much rather spend my Saturdays in a bar than go clubbing.

That reminds me about when I realized I was happy when one of the gigs I went to watching ended before midnight instead of clubbing to almost morning hours. Done both this year too, but age does it's tricks. Occasional club gig is fun though.

I got extremely annoyed already a few (okay, eight) years ago when I went to watch Armin in a big festival. A LOT of people, many of them were younger side and it felt more like trying to avoid getting pushed. It kinda killed the fun out of it. Well that alongside with relatively bad festival-oriented set from AvB. Smaller stages were fun also back then, but the main stage was horrible.

I think I mentioned in another topic I was going to see Prydz. Well I did and luckily from my perspective, it was not that crowded and I could find space relatively easily. It was much easier to get into the mood and I really enjoyed dancing in the Finnish summer twilight. Orkidea played a nice set at the end of the afternoon too even though it was far from optimal time for this kind of stuff. It was a outdoor festival and of course it got hit by a shower. Well, I did dance to The Blessed Madonna in rain then.

Ah yeah, i heared some complaints. I really like Above & Beyond. Have seen them live 2 years ago which was brilliant. And Schulz pretty much always delivers on big festivals. So that was enough for me to pull the trigger. And it’s a day event, which makes it perfect for me.
