I always thought the Moon wasn't a scientific name. It was '(natural) satellite', I was always taught that. Why do we call the Moon by its scientific name and the Sun by its pronoun?
Shouldn't it be 'The Lunar' and The Sun? Why not just 'Lunar' and 'Sun', like we do for Saturn or Venus?
Or why not The Star and The Moon? None of this makes sense. Conspiracy.
Do we though? I always thought Promixima Cen is still "the sun" in the Proxima Cen system there, in the same regard that "Sol" is "the Sun" over here. Why do we call the Moon by its scientific name and the Sun by its pronoun?
Are trying to invoke some crafty Above & Beyond Lyrics here?Do we though? I always thought Promixima Cen is still "the sun" in the Proxima Cen system there, in the same regard that "Sol" is "the Sun" over here.
I'm teaching my kid to call her "Luna" by the way
Can you rent it or something?I had to decline my first real offer to dj since it was a wedding party and I don't have proper equipment for those kind of parties. Immense disappointment on my side since I wanted to upgrade to pro equipment for a while now. Nevertheless looking for doing just that next year and pursuing my own weekly club event or residency hunting next year. I decided I wanted to dj more and I am going to start putting an real effort into this.
Sure, but I don't drive/have a car so I will need to arrange transport for the equipment there. Basically I will probably have to spend more than I will receive and atm I am doing so well at my new job. My probation ends next week and i will push for immediate raise that hopefully will allow me to raise enough money in the next few months to upgrade to pro equipment. I have my eye on the brand new DENON DJ SC Live 4Can you rent it or something?
I didn't even made them an offer. To be honest it was just at the wrong moment for me. I am all over the place atm and I've never dj-ed in front of more than 5-10 people. For a first gig I would have been so nervous and it's not like a club where you have a bad day/set and you move on. That's someone very special day that you might destroy.I don't know where you live, but most companies here in the Netherlands have delivery (and even set-up) and pick-up arrangements if you rent stuff.
Sure, that costs extra. But you can just include whatever you have to pay for that, in the amount you charge the happy couple.
In the summer I deejayed at a wedding. The company delivered and also set it up in the afternoon (I assisted for a bit). And in the morning they picked it all up again.
The happy couple paid almost 1.000 euro's to me. I paid around 400 to rent monitors and various lights, including their delivery and pick-up the next day. I use my own DJ-controller and laptop for the music. So that leaves around 600 for me. (Minus costs for purchasing music to stay up to date and purchase songs they specifically want. And include transporation/gas costs as well if you want.).
I don't know if you find that a lot of money, or not at all. It's actually quite cheap for a wedding dj (in the netherlands). I could ask more. But that doens't feel right for me. I think it's a nice amount of money to earn on an evening doing something that you like.
