I disagree. The original investigation didn't go forward largely b/c of credibility of witnesses. And we haven't seen the ethics report, and probably will not. Aren't you curious as to what it revealed or the timing of all this? Also, just b/c there is a lack of evidence to prosecute doesn't mean the accusations are false. When it comes to congress, historically, members were booted out or resigned b/c of credible allegations (Franks, Foley, Franken, Ensign, Packwood, etc).
Aside from that, he's like, the worst of congress, along with MTG and Boebert. He's not really a serious person, has not passed a single bill he was primary sponsor, and has a 20% approval rating in Florida (I think like 60% in his district). He's got a 'burn it all down' approach which does not align well with the position of AG (unless you'd like to see it all burn down lol).
At any rate, leading the DOJ is a very serious position. Gaetz is not a serious person. Nominating him just shows that Trump wants someone he can control completely, which goes so against the tradition of AG independence. I doubt he'll get confirmed, but if he does, it all but confirms the Republican party is wholly corrupted in keeping any sense of norm and integrity where the DOJ is concerned.
