Dark theme or Light Theme - Which do you prefer?

Yeah we turned it off ha. Putting it back on now.
Basically the way the site is designed it means that any new updates we make we have to build twice and swap everything out manually for the light theme. We didnt think many people used it and currently this theme is far more broken and less polished than the default dark one. We probably dont have enough time to keep updating both as only @Gagi has the skills to do that and already stretched thin.
So we will keep the light theme on, but likely it will get lagged behind as we continue to improve the default theme. It may be that you've not been getting all the new banners and content updates we have been making throughout the year in the light theme
Out of curiosity how come you like the Light theme over dark? And also how would you feel if we did eventually turn it off forever?

I don't dislike dark themes in general but in this case for example I find unread threads/replies easier to see with the light theme. Also the dark is a bit "too dark" compared to other websites/apps, I'd personally prefer a "lighter" gray.
It's probably also because I'm still used to the old trancefix theme, lol
Anyway, no need to update it if it requires so much work, I will get used to the dark theme
Ha yeah, this is why we built the white theme to begin with because of the classic TF OG vibes. But overtime I just used dark more often and all my new designs are in dark by default too so the light theme kinda got neglected.
Can you screengrab me what you mean about unread threads/replies and how its easier to see. Do you mean when the text turns from thick to thin when a thread has been read or something else?

How do you switch back to the light theme? there use to be an icon in the top right corner, but i don't see it anymore.

The light theme has been enabled. Please read the few posts above.
How so? I know we had this problem before, but we've changed the font to extra bold for unread threads in the section view. There is also a NEW icon in the top right corner of every unread message (it's quite visible), and on the home page every unread section has a blue dot next to it as well.

I have used the light theme all the time and I'm already used to it. It's more comfortable for me for few reasons.
1. Easy to find unread thread. Bold text better seen in light theme.
2. Ergonomic reasons. Dark theme is not ergonomic I think. The colors of theme are very contrasting and don't go well with each other. Unread threads are less noticable. Bright covers of releases also contrast with dark background. It's very hard for eyes.
It's purely my opinion.

Damn. Just arrived at work and will have to stay overtime too, so I unfortunately don't think there will be a fix anytime soon. Thanks for reporting!

Yes, the unread threads are somehow easier to see in the light theme. Even with the extrabold fonts and the NEW font, it's not as immediate as it is in the light theme for me.
And also because, like I said and also sashamlenik said, I find the dark theme a bit too dark and tiring for the eyes. It can work in some situations, but when there's a lot of text to read, like in a forum, the background grey's colour should be a "lighter gray" and not almost black imho.

I will have to check, but I'm not sure we have control over FB embeds. Might hardcode something though.

There's a setting on the bottom of every page, on the left side.
Sorry light theme fan boys but we will be killing it very soon. The recent and upcoming changes to the site makes it hard to maintain as everything must be duplicated and the white one is looking/feeling neglected. One day I might spend some time polishing up the light theme so it has same quality as the dark, but for now it must DIE.
