Magnus is coming back!

After a long break from music, I am happy to announce my return with a new artist album titled "Magnus – Lighthouse."

Ahead of the album's release in early 2024, here’s a preview of the title track, "Lighthouse." I have been frequently asked about this track since first playing it at a show over 2 years ago, so I’m happy to say that Lighthouse will finally get to see the light of day along with 9 other originals.

Hello all!

I hope it's ok, but I'd like to share a bit about my break from music, and this album if I may.

TLDR: I took a break from wiriting music during COVID for many reasons, but I'm back writing again in my usual style for my upcoming album, "Lighthouse."

Let me first begin by giving a very special thank you to Sleepy Robot for posting about my new album,
I also want to thank each and every person that took the time to reply on this thread. Reading your comments made my day, and they have lifted my spirits.

The pandemic was a difficult time for all of us, and for me it really affected my creativity. I just couldn't write anymore. so I was forced to take a break from music. I did manage to write 3 breaks tracks during the first part of that dark time, the last of which came out in May of 2021, but after that I was lost creatively for the past few years.

I learned a lot about life and myself during that time, and I now have a renewed and deeper appreciation for the healing power of music. Music can lift us up when we are down, and that is the inspiration behind Lighthouse. I had not visited TranceFix much during those years, but I'm happy I did today to find this thread.

Before I go, I noticed some past threads about my older music, so I will do my best to reply to those threads to give my thanks. I've also seen comments on YouTube asking where to find certain tracks of mine, so I wanted to express my thankfulness by sharing links to my complete first album Signal Strength for download in WAV or MP3:

It's coming. Life and work obligations have been more demanding in recent years, which has slowed down the creative process. On top of that, I decided to hold off on a 2024 release after realizing that another artist named Magnus had already launched his album that year. With our music sometimes getting mixed up on platforms like Beatport and SoundCloud, I didn’t want our work to be overlooked or confused.

Additionally, the rapid rise of AI in the music scene made me kind of depressed to be honest. This in turn affected my creativtiy and drive to continue. I also made the decision to completely overhaul and re-write many of these album tracks because I want to present my music in the best way possible.

Thank you so much for caring and sticking with me through these challenges, and for taking the time to post here. Your support means a lot to me.

Which aspect of it made you depressed?
You musn't answer that question if it feels uncomfortable.

I'm just curious about opinions from producers, because recently there's been a lot of discussion on that topic.

I've been quiet for a long time. Life hit hard, and I had to step away from music for reasons I never expected. Some of you know the story, some of you don’t, but I just want to say thank you to everyone who stuck with me through years of silence. Your messages and encouragement meant more than you realize.

I wanted to briefly mention that during those years while I was away, another artist began releasing music under the name Magnus, even releasing a few tracks on Armada. This understandably confused a lot of people. Our music became mixed together on platforms, and despite years of trying, many places still haven’t fixed it. Some listeners assumed I had changed my sound or abandoned my style. Never. You’ll always know when you’re hearing a Magnus track.

Tonight I’m finally releasing the first two tracks from my upcoming album Lighthouse. One is an updated version of Revolution, a track I only ever played at Dreamstate SoCal 2016. It seemed fitting to finally release it now on the 10th anniversary of the event. Wish I was at DS with you all, but an injury earlier this year slowed me way down. I finally have surgery in less than 2 weeks, so wish me luck.

This time around, I chose to release my album on Bandcamp as Name Your Price, including free downloads for anyone who wants it. The rest of the tracks will follow over the coming year in 2026, but I wanted to finally share these now instead of constantly finding excuses to wait. As many producers know, a track is never truly finished.

Thank you for the support over the years. I never gave up even when things got dark. Every message, every comment, every small moment of encouragement has meant so much. You all are the reason I never stopped writing.
