A couple thoughts: I rarely buy music off Beatport these days, preferring to purchase on Bandcamp. I miss Forescape on BC to be honest. I'm almost allergic to Beatport, and I spend at least $50 a month on tracks. Second, Forescape is one of the few labels putting out interesting tracks at this BPM in this style. I mentioned above that I could weave this type of track in to a more modern trancey underground set adjacent to something like Bliss Inc, Reflex Blue, Jeku, etc. Coredata and Facade also make tracks I can weave in to more diverse sets but. The majority of the rest of the prog space is a bit stale, with tracks that all sound the same to me (especially in track structure). I am seeing glimmers here and there lately though which is encouraging, Joof seems to be heating up again. My point is, I don't have a lot of tracks to go with the juicy good releases that pop up now and then, so I just barely mix this style at all anymore, and weave the sound in when it makes sense. Forescape at least seems to encourage experimentation which I think puts you guys a cut above in most cases, but sadly other labels seem to be keeping their producers in a small box. I would love to see more of these talented producers making some unhinged wacky stuff that pushes those label boundaries right off a cliff. I think that's why the underground scene is thriving - no rules, and producers bring their tracks to all sorts of different labels, or self release.

Yep, agree with your post above. I've got an EP out on J00F soon with one track in a similar vein to Tensile called 'Six Moves Sideways'. J00F can be up and down for me - as most labels can be, but it keeps it real in terms of signings. What I like so much about Forescape is Kirill. The bloke has a similar outlook to me and is similarly passionate about keeping underground music exactly that. He also tells me if something I've sent him is shit or not right for the label and doesn't try to change it - it's Forescape or it isn't / it's good enough or it isn't.
As for Bandcamp, well... I released an ambient EP on that ........ and sold one. Maybe it was crap, maybe no one really gives too much of a shit about ambient but it was a disappointing experience - even if that one sale netted me more $ than 178,900,678,985 downloads on Beatport et al. I just wanted to use it as a space for some regular output and limited releases - something 20 downloads over a few months of each new release would be cool and keep nudging me along to make new stuff - but I'm not going to bother if the exposure is that poor, not from a $ perspective just in terms of being an active artist with some engagement on releases via that platform.

The guys from Beatport are working on this, just need some patience before they fix the performance issues.

For me 75% (or more) of the 'nu-trance' stuff is actually 'nu-house' or 'nu-prog'. Chunky rhythms and beats that are super danceable, and more banging than in previous house/prog iterations, but lean more towards a groove rather than a rolling/driving/flowing rhythm, which to me far better characterizes Trance music in general. Atmospheric too.

This track from Narel is a great example. Even though it can fit in nu-trance set, it would stand out and def feel one of the most Trancey. UTE is the only other underground label I think of that will deliver actual Trance consistently. Even Bliss Inc is questionable to call it Trance instead over some form of new prog-house hybrid.

I love the 'nu' stuff, but really wish the Trance side of it is was as dominant or more represented. Still feels like we are getting the pickings again, rather than a fully alive scene. Really positive signs though, you would hope that it continues to expand, so that instead of one UTE, we have 10-20 of them in the future.
