Listened at work today. Very mid. 3-4 good tracks (not great), 3-4 very mid with same dry muted beats/bass and a couple fillers aswell. Alot of the tracks feels very siimilar in their sound-design and foundation. The intro track is only passable, but kinda lazily put together. Just a bit of waves in the beginning doesnt make it a great isos intro track haha.

The track that sticks out is def from our two resident tf members....jetflag and julian. Good job guys. Pretty enjoyable track. Good movement to the bassline. The snare/clap has got some charachter and it has a nice progression/flow to it. The orkidea track and slusnik ones are also pretty nice asweell as the foxhill one (which built some nice tension/atmosphere)

Overall its jusy "ok". Could listen max 3-4 times but i would prolly never return to this cd if i werent incredbly bored with what else i wanted to listen to. Its not even on par with vol.6 and 7 in terms of overall quality and track selection imo. As i said, very mid in quality. So a 6/10 is my score.

The first time I have agreed with you. A lot of these tracks have great textures and breakdowns but the lead riffs or 'peak' sections just don't deliver.

I like the opening tbh. A good kick and subbass right from the start, subtle vocal, some little shakers, sets a perfect summery mood. Also really liking the Foxhill track. Original bassline, everything blends together really well. Sinful Biz & Facade track feels like a follow-up to Magnetic, with a sort of exotic sound. Really cool stuff. Love it. Too bad the melody doesn't have a part "with beats", only in the breakdowns.

Highlight of the mix is Enigma State & Sean Tyas' summer version of Lately. I like it more than the original.

Very excited to listen to all the different mixes. Solarstone is the BEST choice for this series and seeing all the trancefix members on the list is awesome as you make some of the best music out there. Congrats to everyone here that is part of this iconic comp

See @facade1984 I'm right its not just me on this. @Julian Del Agranda - wait for his forthcoming stuff with Moog lines in, you get 4 bars of that and then its never heard of again. He.... he just doesn't care...... a purveyor of nihilistic chaos.

First I was a little disappointed because there is not really a single standout track, only Release as my personal alltime favourite by Solarstone. It flows well but nothing catchy. BUT then I listened more carefully and doing a complete drive-through journey. This smooth flow is no coincidence, I think, this build-up is full intention. Actually this is the perfect wave for ISOS! No, neither it’s Peter Martin from 2004 nor Tiesto from 1999. It‘s Solarstone in 2024 and finally he’s on ISOS and I would be completely fine if he will be the new host on here.

Congratulations to the contributors! Facade’s track has a really nice powerful basskick, I like!

Excited for what to come next..!

Some cool mixer choices here! Think there’s a good mix of tunes for everyone as well!

Enjoyed Solarstone’s mix so far, my favs have been Tom Bro - Balearic Islands & Aquarius’ Remix of Solarcoaster. I also like Flawless! The part at 1:47 did throw me off a bit on first listen since I wasn’t sure if the melody and bass sound worked together but maybe it’s just my off ears in the earphones 🤣. It’s nice anyway, also great to see more a progressive side from you both! @Jetflag @Julian Del Agranda

It looks like most if not all tracks from Super8 & Tab’s mix have been released already so you could probably just look them up, some tunes I like on there though like Dominoes and Feel You Now. ZOYA’s take looks interesting with a more slower side and some of those are older tunes too.

Either way, looking forward to the full release, should be good 🙂

Not overly excited seeing these additional mixes... Always a secretly Gielen fanboy so that's gonna work out for me😏 Haven't following S8T for ages and that Zoya tracklist looks pretty lazy track wise.

Thanks Mikey, that's cool to read :)

The fun thing was that I started making a beat/bass part as very first thing. To make it a bit fresh and unusual, for example, I used a crash cymbal (from 0:43-0:59, 2:27-2:42 for example) as if it was a 'ride' sample. A crash used like this, that's hardly ever done. It's quite soft in the background, so it doesn't appear to be extreme. But these are the details that make it a bit fresh. At least, that's what we tried to do.

That bass sound is indeed a weird bonky one. I actually started with this like a Tiesto - Dallas 4PM clone. With that note placement as well. Just for fun. The first draft I sent to Aerium was like that. Later it was changed into what it is now. But the origin of it was the hunt for that Dallas 4PM kind of sound.

And when Aerium sent me this melody, already in this synth sound, I was also unsure whether it suited the bass sound. But the contrast is what makes it cool. I've learned to love it. It makes the track a little 'less standard'. And that's what we wanted.

In our extended mix there's a small pre-break as well, before the bass/beat is unleashed. That part is missing in this mix. Makes the track more complete though in my eyes. It's always fun working with Aerium, as we can both be completely honest and say "no that's ugly".

///

As for ISOS, I'm looking forward to that Airscape mix (Hey, I called Airscape to be suitable for a mix, 10 points for me). I'm affraid those new Airscape tunes won't excite me like for example Sosei back in the day. But who knows it's going to be cool.

agree with Dyon that the Zoya tracklist looks less appealing. If you’re mixing an ISOS, it shouldn’t be an artist promo filled with own tracks, unless it’s specifically made for this mix of course.

I thought the Solarstone mix was pretty decent. Really captured some of the classic ISOS elements. I always like everything JG does even if it's cheesy or just meh, my guilty pleasure🧀 No high hopes for the remaining 2 mixes. But hey, a nice 12 track 3-lp vinyl sampler on the way. Arriving in November😄

Any source for this? S8 & Tab and Zoya’s tracklists looks pretty… strange.
