Making an ISOS-style mix using old music is too easy, then there must be a condition to use tracks only of the current year, and the mission becomes impossible)
How about the last 3 years? Spread the choice whilst still making a relevant mix. Reading articles on trancefix, that year range covers the time when more decent trance started to return im thinking. We also have EP1 plus I believe EP2 is in the making for trancefix and could potentially use tracks on there as a pool too if they reach the mark or needed vibe. 😉

That ZOYA mix is a laugh.

Whoever approved that must have been under the influence.

This is a TOP idea. In one of my comments here I almost mentioned the trancefix dj’s, mixers, as an example of making a quality mix very possible, but your idea is inspiring. Definitely try it. Get as many as we can and ‘remind’ some of the big boys how it’s done. Although I would perceive for ISOS the pros have to run a track list by the managers of ISOS before there mix is made, and get approval, I think this as there must be some reason it seems to lack quality. - I’m going on holiday today and will listen to any links of the ISOS 20 release on the beach. - I remember listening to 14/15 on the same beach a few yrs ago and being blown away. - from comments here I don’t think a repeat of that is expected. Although I do hold hope for Solar Stones mix, if only that one.

This was my ISOS tribute mix,i did a few years ago - definatly one of my most popular mixes.

01 Banyan Tree - Feel The Sunrise
02 DJ Hooligan - Hear You Now (Grandchillas Mix)
03 Andy Duguid feat. Leah - Wasted
04 Jerry Ropero feat. Cozi - The Storm (Inpetto Remix)
05 Rui Da Silva feat. Cassandra - Touch Me
06 First State feat. Anita Kelsey - Falling
07 Taxigirl - High Glow
08 JaseFOS - Do What You Want (Infusion Remix)
09 Mekka - Diamondback
10 Billy Ray Martin - Honey (Chicane Remix)
11 Tiesto feat. Aqualung - UR (Junkie XL Remix)
12 BT - Mercury & Solace
13 Cass & Slide - Perception
14 Way Out West - Mindcircus (Gabriel & Dresden Remix)
15 Solarstone - Solarcoaster
16 Kamaya Painters - Summerbreeze
17 Salt Tank - Eugina (Michael Woods Remix)
18 Libra & Taylor - Calling Your Name (Ferry Corsten Remix)
19 Estuera vs. Re:locate - Palma Solane
20 Breeder - Tyrantanic (Slacker Remix)
21 Blank & Jones feat. Bobo - Perfect Silence (E-Craig 212 Mix)

Added to my beach list, cheers 👍

0ooooooh just seen one of my fave isos experience tracks. Solar coaster. Those vocals and sounds behind that. 3 words passed through my mind, like a broken record. Hes so cool, he’s so cool, he’s so cool. Fell in love with isos 3 so early. Got it on a shiny silver disc somewhere 🙂

Reading all these posts makes me want to set up a thread and ask the producer/DJs here to do their own 'ISOS' mix,if they were asked to do one haha. Im tempted to attempt it.
I misread what you put... thought you were suggesting making your own ISOS comp using original tracks from producer peeps here haha. I would guess it would be better outcome than some of the mixes from vol. 20 here ;)

sad to see nobody picked up this one for the mix

where does sample come from btw?

the one voice sample is taken from 'Joe T. Vannelli presents Csilla - Play With The Voice' from 1994, here is my favourite version from 1998

Csilla - Play With The Voice (Van Bellen Remix) [Virgin] 1998

In Search of Sunrise 20 from York , It's just some random set of tracks, no general atmosphere is felt. It was like listening to a radio with random tracks.

That York intro is amazing though. Lovely new version of "Reachers of Civilization". I also like the Gabriel & Dresden tune.

Overall there are too many festival-hands-in-the-air-powerful-to-the-max trance tracks that don't suit the theme well. There's not much balaeric vibes to be found in this. Tracks like 'Summerbreeze (Wavetraxx Remix)' are great. I love that one. But I don't see how it suits ISOS. But maybe that's why they gave him the 'city' image, rather then something beachy, haha.

So far, I enjoyed Solarstone's Mix, and Johan Gielen's had some okay moments, but not too impressed with Super8 & Tab and York.

Why am I even opening this thread yet again to read a 100th opinion on how the mixes are generally bad?

Maybe it could be called. ISOISOS. ‘ In Search of - In search of Sunrise.’

But that might be a bit of a mouthful and a bit of a hard dig at Songbird.

York ... well, I like! For me this is even the most interesting mix on ISOS for a long time. I am surprised to say by myself! I don't know if it's my zero expectation after listening to the crap by S8TB or if I had the perfect mood for listening last night but Stenzel reached me totally. Great individual work. It's bright, it's powerful, it's an euphoric journey that builds up consequently and with a tasteful choice of tracks. First half is a real creative approach on a modern interpretation of ISOS. Second half is more ‚modern bounce‘ and psy and lightly looses acceleration but it's still great. In this context I even embraced the classic themes and OST remakes. York's guitar as opening and closing is beautifully done. This is finally a trance feeling again, with a nice flavour of German oldschool, I would say. This one made really fun!

The people who don’t like: How would your ISOS mix with 2020+ stuff looks like? I appreciate the idea of a trancefixed version of ISOS :D But the classics should be limited to a minimum imo. Think of vol 18 where Matt Fax did a great job, but the last 30 mins were boring as hell, even the tracks were instant classics.

At the very least something with:
- a (consistent) narrative. There has to be a journey element to it.
- I don’t mind a range of styles (ambient, deep progressive, tech, nu trance uplifting etc) as long as it fits said narrative
- an athmospheric Balearic style throughout, broadly.(speaks for itself)
- it should end with “a sunrise” not twenty tracks involving one stringed together.

my 2 cents 🤷‍♂️

We would need to stay respectful tho as clearly there are DJ mixes on isos 20 that have elements of or some which are in their totality (now that ive listened to Solar Stones) pretty damn awesome!

Respect should always be adhered to as a standard anyway. But tongue & cheek could possibily enter the equation in respectful ways me thinks.
