Djoko really wanted this one, to mentally get a little edge over Alcaraz leading up to the US Open.

Nothing between these two though. At 36yo it’s amazing stuff.

I bet Novak is happy that Alcaraz is here. He needs a rival after Fed, Nadal (basically stopped) and Murray (doing surprisingly well with the fake hip) left the top. He needs it for motivation.

I think he has enough motivation. He probably wants to win the Olympics (since he's only missing that) and at least 2 more slams, to break the all-time record (24 by Margaret Court). I think Alcaraz might be the only one who can threaten these goals.

I used to enjoy cricket but that was before T20 came in and now it's too fast paced for me and it feels like I am watching NBA or an american style of commentary. The commentators are terrible too in Cricket in tests and One Day Internationals. Also, commercialism and India taking over cricket has also ruined Cricket . Focusing mainly on just the Indian Premier League as well and T20 as well. I miss Test cricket how it used to be when it was grit, determination and going through hard work and how test cricket can teach people real life skills. Now, it feels like I am watching a baseball game.

I highly doubt Djkovic will pull in the same crowd numbers after Nadal retires and when Federer and Nadal were going head to head as well. After Federer retired I stopped watching Tennis. I only continued watching tennis after Edberg, Becker, Sampras and Agassi and Safin were playing.

Probably one of the worst times to be a Borussia Dortmund and Philadelphia Eagles fan.

The former have 6 straight games without a win, and the latter 3 straight losses.

I don't see myself following both forms of football for long, to be honest. In the medium term, I'll probably bid a farewell to both teams. Not because of the current results (although that is convenient), but because I can spend my time in smarter ways.

As it's past 5 AM and the Eagles are losing in the playoffs, lots of legends probably retiring after the game, I'm also likely saying goodbye to the Birds and the NFL in general.

Maybe it's cold turkey, but maybe I just won't prioritize it over everything else, staying up late or canceling other appointments because the game is on that evening.

I just don't seem to be caring about sports that much anymore. It's not even fulfilling, seems like it's nothing more than an annoying habit. Almost every week during ⚽ and 🏈 seasons I can lose 2-8 hours watching games that in a year I will forget about completely. I love the sports themselves, just not the games anymore...

I still follow football/soccer but mostly the Dutch league nowadays. Still follow the NBA and NFL as much as possible, but it can understand it can be annoying from time to time and especially when your team doesn't do well.

Yeah - and I'm using it as a sort of a perfect excuse to stop following. That said, even last year, when they went to the Super Bowl, most of the games didn't do anything for me.

We have too many games in regular football, and that's maybe why barely any feels special anymore. And that's just gonna increase as well with the new Champions League and the new FIFA Club World Cup etc. The NFL is much better in that regard, given that there are 17 regular season games + maximum 4 in the playoffs, but I'm still gonna be moving on from it. It's just not worth my time. I barely slept last night and I'm gonna feel like crap the entire day, all because of a stupid game.

Not sure if you've seen this already, but I just did and it was incredible.

@Magnevi there's also a bit of Thiem for you.

Obviously they are just copy-pasting the NfL iS sCrIpTeD marketing from the NFL, but it's very well done I would say.

Since this is a Dutch forum...

Any thoughts on the Dutch pedophile that was allowed to play at the Olympics? Shame on whoever allowed him to join.

^ I have the opposite opinion. Way too many people like yourself who make such statements, probably without looking into the actual story.

so the guy was 19, when going on a date with this 12 year old in the UK. They had online contact and were into each other. It ended up with sexual acts, with consent.

The girl has never complained and is completely fine. They really liked each other and things happened.

Now. In the UK they call everything ‘rape’ when someone underage is involved. Consent or not. So here’s why the guy is now ‘rapist’. He had to go jail. The girl never called police or whatever. But that doesn’t matter in the UK.

The guy has finished his sentence, years ago by the way. So he deserves to participate normally. He has a relationship for multiple years with a lady from around his own age (he is 28, she is ~31).

He said in a public interview that the things that happened were the biggest mistake of his life. Even though there was consent the girl was too young. He was 19 and didn’t think of it properly.

And now, yeeaaaarsss later, you and (mostly international) media start a which hunt on the guy. Why? What does the guy have to do to be able to live his life?

He served his time and the girl never even had issues with what happened anyway, nobody is harmed.

This is what they call ‘cancel culture’ (in the Netherlands, is this a thing?). Someone did something?? Oh, take away their whole life and forever point your finger.

It’s messed up.

Man served his time. He should be allowed to join.

that said: pedophilia is not something that should ever be normalised given the vulnerability of children in that stage of development, and most pedophiles engaging in the act are repeat sexoffenders statistically.

“cancelling” people from wider society sounds bad on the face of it but when you think of say: psychopatic murderers.. it’s sort of a pragmatic ethical virtue. Although far from optimal.

pedophiles in my view should at the very least be kept tabs on.

Actually: no. When a women (say, nympho teacher) has sex with a child it’s simply not defined as rape or molestation under the law.

therefor it isn’t 🤷‍♂️

Didn't know it was different for woman in this case. Seems rather strange.

Btw in this case the term pedophilia shouldn't be used too quickly imo. The dude in this case (apparently) has no specific interest in young girls, he just had this incident when he himself was rather young too (imo 19 is still close to... being a child).

I think it's different than let's say a creapy 50 year old man who touches a 6 year old merely for his own pleasure. I could see why such person would be banned from let's say the Olympics.

But imo they are not the same cases.

19 = adulthood with all the perks and responsibilities that come with that.

a 12 year old = basic elementary school. Girls that age for the most part don’t even have pubic hair/ bleed.

That made this clearly pedophelia.

he should have been the responsible adult in the room, which he was, and kept his dick in his trousers. He did his time, faced the music and therefor should not be banned imo.

but what he did, fucking a child, consent or not was and is clearly wrong imo
